Well there is a different degree of danger. Malnourishment can lead to serious health concerns and even death very quickly. Being Chubby wont be an issue for decades after they left home

The thing I don't get is that parents want more regulation against companies that sell junk food and/or soft drinks. It's called self control people. No one is forcing you to drink soda over water or for you to eat that bag of chips over an apple.

Cut sugar and refined grains. Problem solved. It's funny how easy it is solve this, but marketing, the US Food Bill, which keeps foods derived of cheap calories very cheap, and lack of education mire the issue.

Is there a logical reason why extreme overfeeding does not qualify as child abuse, yet extreme underfeeding does?

I'm talking about overfeeding to the point where the child is 400 pounds at age 12.
