If it's coming out on consoles too, it's not going to be F2P.
There are free to play console games.

Here's what my question is over the rights.
Can Natsume have full rights to use anything from games they've localized? They still can release the classics on VC, so they definitely haven't had those yanked from them.
What about characters, assets, and potential for remakes should they choose? What I'm thinking is maybe any game post-Story of Seasons is under XSEED and Marvelous creative-wise, but as long as it's pre-SoS, Natsume could use them as they please? So they might still have a shared ownership perhaps? I mean didn't Natsume commission Puzzle de Harvest Moon and Frantic Farming on DS themselves?
Ah, ok. I was thinking of stuff like Sid Meier's Starships (PC, IOS) or the upcoming Submerged (PS4, IOS).There are F2P games on consoles.
Namco just showed off one for the WiiU this weekend, even.
Kind of pathetic how Natsume is using the good reputation built from decades of localised Boku Monogatari games to sell crap. Their localisations weren't even that good.

Actually, I wonder if issues over that is why both Marvelous and Natsume have changed up their art direction for their respective games. Here's what my question is over the rights.

Well there could be worries about the game being designed to fit the mobile business model I guess.I dunno why people are upset at the mobile lineup
Harvest Moon is about the most safe game I can think of to be on all those platforms and not suffer anywhere because of it. Mechanically there's nothing timing or imput heavy that would hurt it on any of those platforms at all.
Also, I can think of a reason for those specific choices: they're probably using Unity.
Nah, kind of pathetic and shitty of Marvelous to strip the IP away from Natsume after cultivating the franchise in the west for nearly 20 years.
Natsume wasn't exactly doing a good job and Marvelous has XSeed now so it makes sense.
Probably an eshop game on WiiU. I doubt they'd make it a retail release.
If they gave a shit about 'quality' they could have extended a bit more support to Natsume in the process. This is a money issue, not a quality issue.
Natsume's localizations are generally shitty period, so I'm not sure Marvelous could help much. Lets not forget, they screwed up the code for Rhapsody on the DS so bad, the end game content was inaccessible for the US release.

Wonder if it will be top-down, 2D. That would be neat!
Hopefully it's a retail release on Wii U.
What's a good Harvest Moons game for a new comer of the series? Be wanting to get into the series.
Harvest Moon 64, Back to Nature (available on PS1/PSP/PS3), and Friends of Mineral Town (GBA). I'm pretty sure most will agree that those were the best games in the series, and they're all relatively simple to get into.

The logo looks very amateurish
"Harvest Moon"
Yes, yes, we get it. It's "fake" Harvest Moon because it's not the original developer. It doesn't need to be pointed out every 5 posts.
Fake is in sneer quotes why, exactly? Enjoy your soul-less rip-off if you like, but it should continue to be pointed out so people know exactly what they're getting.
They were also buggy. Marvelous dissolved the partnership the for a reason.
as the only person on GAF who enjoyed The Lost Valley, this is bought
Got super excited then remembered it's not called "harvest moon" anymore. Stupid Nastume, milking their naming rights![]()
