Ever since I found out Miyazaki was adapting Howl's moving castle I have been interested in reading her books. The caveat is I wanted to watch Miyazaki's adaptation first. Which I did in november, and I totally forgot about Jones. I'm about to order Howl's moving castle from amazon, can anyone recommend another Diana Wynne Jones novel?

I also see she has a novel named castle in the air, as opposed to miyazaki's Castle in sky, I read the synopsis and they seem to differ in plot. Maybe I'll get castle in the air as well.

I wanted to wait for Miyazaki's adaptation too, but I caved and read the book. It's probably the first book that I can say with confidence that I will re-read. It was such a great story and the writing made it come across as a fair tail for people of all ages.

I hope Miyazaki delivers again!

I have the book for Howl's Moving Castle on order. Castle in the Air seems to be a sequel. Castle in the Sky, or Ten no Shiro Laputa (Sky Castle Laputa) is an original story by Ghibli. It bears a strong resemblance to certain parts of the Nausicaa manga that came after the film.

Laputa is named after the flying city in Gulliver's travels. It also means "the prostitute" in spanish, hence the name change outside Japan.
