for some reason when i export the video i am making it lowers the quality pretty badly.. i have fixed this a bit by messing with the settings somewhat:

i export using quicktime conversion and under options i set the video settings to best quality and mpeg-4 compression.. but its still not the greatest.

what would be the best settings for a full screen movie that will be put on a dvd ??

also.. i tried adding a film noise filter.. but it converts my movie to black and white.. any way to add the filter with out messing with the color ???

that works as well.. i was just asking here cause i know a few fellow gaffers have edited their own movies and such.. thanks though .

an uncompressed video from maya..it pretty high quality..

If it's for DVD, MPEG 2, like fart said. Max bitrate is 9,800 kbps.

You'll lose quality, sure, but it should look fine, especially on a TV.

Here's what I encode all my videos to and it's broadcast quality:

MPEG2
Fram Rate: 29.97
Width: 720
Height 480
(Subsequently, you can use broadcast resolution 640X480)
Constant Bit Rate: 4500 KB/S
Audio Bit Rate: 384 KB/S
Pixel Aspect: 4:3
Interlaced Fields
