*******MANGA SPOILERS FOR ONE PIECE AND ANY OTHER SERIES PEOPLE ADD********
I'm sick and have nothing better to do right now. I've been thinking about this for a while while rereading some Naruto.
The Naruto vs. Sasuke fight is a favorite of many fueled in part by the rivalry you see throughout the series and the friendship that has grown between Naruto and Sasuke. Naruto is desparetly trying to get his friend back as Sasuke wants to leave the village and sever all ties in an attempt to get stronger. The fight is emotionally charged, Sasuke says early on that Naruto is his best friend which has significance in that there's a Uchiha technique that requires the death of your best friend, and the way Naruto feels about Sasuke in regards to friendship are made clear in this fight. These are two best friends fighting with everything they have for their own beliefs, whether right or wrong. Of course the audience and fans are going to get emotionally invested.
What manipulative horseshit. This fight/arc basically retconned their relationship and forced the audience to believe that their relationship has been steadily growing. The problem is WE NEVER SEE IT. There are maybe, MAYBE 3 panels, not pages, not chapters, PANELS that show that they don't greatly dislike each other. They're rivals, absolutely, but they were NEVER shown to be friends until literally this arc. People say all of part 1 lead to this moment as we slowly see Sasuke become jealous of Naruto overtaking him until it gets to the point where he can't take it anymore and has to prove he's better in a fight. We don't see this at all until the CHAPTER BEFORE THEY FIGHT, until then they moved up and down: Sasuke surpasses Naruto, Naruto surpasses Sasuke, so on. Then suddenly after Gaara while Sasuke is recovering he's like "nah, fuck that, I'm better than him". We don't see this before but somehow it's become the perception of part 1 just like them really being friends.
This leads to a fight of "feels" that has completely unearned emotional impact as there's barely any establishment of friendship or jealousy beforehand. We as the audience are merely TOLD that they're actually besties and it's terrible. Compare it to One Piece.
Everything is spoiler tags are manga spoilers, avoid if you aren't caught up in One Piece.
There are two moments of friends fighting that have actual emotional impact: Luffy vs. Usopp and
. All the SHs are seen being friends, just being goofy together and having fun. Luffy and Usopp are best friends, we're never told this and they never say it themselves but we know from how they are with each other that they are best friends. They end up fighting and there's actual weight behind it because you've seen how much these two care about each other instead of going "Luffy, you're my Captain and best friend but I must duel you now". Luffy doesn't even want to really go along with the fight and early on holds back which allows Usopp to start his offense and start hurting Luffy. They both know Usopp isn't gonna win and despite Luffy's hesitation he eventually fights back and wins. They're both sad over what's happened along with the rest of the SHs and Usopp officially leaves the crew.
Real. Emotional. Impact. Actual friends and people that care about each other fighting either because they have no choice or for a belief. Not that schlock of Naruto.
TL;DR: The Naruto/Sasuke fight has us believe they're best friends when we aren't shown this throughout the series and only told so during the actual fight adding artificial emotional impact behind it and retconning their relationship.

There are two moments of friends fighting that have actual emotional impact: Luffy vs. Usopp and
Luffy vs. Sanji
Luffy vs. Sanji is Sanji knowing that if he doesn't put up an act and fight Luffy that Luffy will be killed by his family so he acts like the SHs never mattered and starts fighting Luffy. Luffy refuses to fight back and gets destroyed by Sanji. Sanji leaves him beaten and bloodied only for Luffy to shout that Sanji was really the one hurting, Sanji has his head away from his family and is crying.
