Seeing Serenity was pretty good :)

Being handed screenshots of DNF after Serenity was pretty good too :)

It looks awesome... it looks hardcore. I don't know how much detail I should go into... one scene was a bunch of police-like SWAT dudes looking hardcore and pissed off. Slick looking helmets and carrying the "we are ready to kill you" dimeanor. One of Dukes guns in another shot looked very awesome. Very true to DN3D.(How am I supposed to describe what a gun looks like?) Lighting is awesome. I wanted to ask if the images has been photoshopped, becuase, well, they looked really fucking superior (and true to Duke Nukem).

It's true. I just printed three shots on our color laser printer five minutes before we left to see the movie. It was a really impulsive thing to do, and just for the hell of it, for a fellow Shacker. We caught up with him literally at the last second on the curb of the parking lot. It doesn't mean, or predict anything, and I maybe shouldn't have done it, but like I said, it was just an impulse.

He was surrouned by ninjas hiding in the bushes and never would have made it to his car, if he'd chosen to run.

This is true and not b.s. Definately good news that someone outside of the studio has seen the game and it appears to look killer.

Alot of peeps are gonna eat their words when this game comes out. I've always supported 3dr and thought it was cool of them to continue working on the game when other studios would have pulled the plug along time ago. They're not quitters and for that, they have my respect.

Sign me up for the preorder George! :D

I bet they're aiming to release it on it's own 10th anniversary, in 2007. Which was their plan all along, as seen in the 2001 E3 trailer(!). (Which is IMO incidently still is the best designed damn trailer for a FPS ever.)

:P

I am glad things are seemingly going well for them though and I hope we get to see some results soon™. :D

:lol

And so, the legend continues.

Buahahahahahahahahaha!

George B probably saw the Project Offset engine and figured he had to scrap everything all over again.

how can you hate a game that has never materialized in screens or video (besides those really awful screens in the late 90s)

Those screens from 2000? 2001? were pretty damn sweet when they came out.

Edit: 1999

Crazy stuff for its time.

I don't hate it! I love it! It's pure comedy every time someone mentions it! w00t!

I hope we keep hearing about it for another 10 years!

Also, I'm not sure if you are aware Wario, but George B over the years has ridiculed other games that have been released mentioning how much "better" DNF is. The chiding this game gets is ALL deserved.

Can someone please post a link or the actual screens? I don't think I've ever seen them.

Screens?

PFFFFFT.

How about that kick-ass Vegas trailer?
Duke sliding on his bike under a trailer, Duke holding a shield in FPP mode and that shield gets cracked with each received hit, shrink ray, coke machine, jetboat chase, destructible walls with large chunks of them flying around, aliens, pigcops, donkeys, stripper shaking her ass, awesome character models and animation and powerful Duke music in the background.

Duke will be back.
Crow will be served.

Are there any real reasons as to why this game has taken 10 years?

They were waiting for more movies to be released so they could rip off more one liners.

Lack of developer focus.

Constant engine switching.

Too thick "to-do" feature docs.

etc.

Yeah, that's what I said - George B is an idiot ;)

No project lead worth their salt ever would let things get this out of hand. It's basically his fault too, he's El Capitano.

You know, I honestly don't think it's that people don't believe there is some DNF coding somewhere. In fact we have pretty much all seen the old build trailers. The HATE per se for DNF stems from other factors. Extremely long development time, no end in sight and entire game rebuilds to name a few. Unless it gives everyone a blowjob on game start there is nothing they could do to make people eat crow over that.

Out of curiosity, how does a game 10 years in development make its money back?

Supposedly the developers have a money tree in their backyard from their past games that they have been living off of and paying the development cost for this and that portal game that suddenly popped back up out of nowhere. Must be nice and makes me wonder why Carmack and Cliffy B don't do the same and just goof of on developing a game for 20 years. Unless they fear being made fun of like Romero and now 3DRealms.

It doesn't. :lol

The only reason they have been able to pull this shit is because of licensing out the Duke franchise to other devs as well as the other games they have profited on from 3D Realms.

As much as I loved Doom for being my favorite game experience of all time back in 93, nothing can top the pure fun carnage of Duke Nukem 2D or 3D. 10 years is a long fucking time to keep the fans waiting though.

Try Blood. It was everything that DN3D was and a bag of chips. And the movie quotes and references were genuinely hilarious, the developers were (are) big horror buffs.
