Hatsune Miku Project Diva f launches on Vita in the west in March

Actually, we managed to get the PS3 version localized and out the door (with a physical release, too) very quickly following last year's Facebook post. It came out late August, just about 6 months after the Japanese release, which is pretty fast for a console game.

Following the great reception to that version, we got started on and have been working on the VITA version since.

Nice to see some excitement in the thread for Project DIVA f on VITA! We like making you guys happy. :)

So if the PS3 game did well, y'all don't think the 3DS games would do well? Project Mirai 1/2 please? (not port begging, but localization begging)

I hope for gods sake we get Diva F 2 in the US :(

How well did PS3 miku actually do? I'm hearing 16K but that sounds VERY low for a game that's impossible to find on store shelves. Did it have a low print run?

Nothing stopping you from autolooping World is mine in AR/stage/edit mode in f/F. It'll be playable in F 2nd also.

Wait it's in F2nd!? Joyous days! I just ordered both the PS3 and Vita versions because I couldn't decide if I wanted to play it more naturally or be able to stream it on twitch. ;~;

Whoa, hold up. We haven't announced anything on pricing yet. :) Nor have we said the DLC isn't coming.

All will be revealed soon... and I think you won't be disappointed.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAH

If this is $30 I will be happy forever. For reals. And DLC? Plz include with the game. Though I would pay money for said DLC because I own PD, PD2nd, and PDE. I would own PDF if I had a PS3.

JUST. SEGA.

Well a little more than a year late for me since I imported the Japanese version, but great if you still haven't picked it up and want a fantastic mobile rhythm game.

Still a little bummed that the Vita version didn't come out first or at least at the same time (though I understand why!). I picked up the PS3 version but haven't put all that much time into it because I'd much rather play a rhythm game on a handheld. Guess I'll be getting F too >_<;;

The game will be available on PlayStation Store, and will also feature a completely separate set of Trophies from the PS3 version (go for that double Platinum)! We’re also happy to confirm today that we will be bringing over the DLC that many have asked us about: the Snow Miku 2013 DLC, the Extra Character Modules Pack, and the Extra Songs pack will all be available at launch in March. We’ll be announcing details on pricing for these, as well as the full game, here on the Playstation Blog soon.

Not sure what to think there - the way it's worded, it sounds like the six extra songs will not be free, despite being included with the base game on PS3. This was the way it was in Japan, but only because Japan got the Vita version over half a year prior; given the International release is the other way around, I'm not sure charging for content people got for free with last year's PS3 release is the wisest choice.

The wording and the fact trophies are not shared also doesn't make me confident that the DLC is shared between versions; in Japan, both trophies and DLC are shared and don't have to be purchased a second time if you want to use it in the other version.

Also, the most compelling reason to double-dip (or, well, quadruple-dip in my case) - the ability to upload your unlock state to the cloud for use in both versions of the game - has gone completely unmentioned.

Yeah, seems weird that the extra songs will cost money. :/

Oh cool, another platinum I could get. Not so sure if I want to go through Diva Room again though.

Eh. I will pay it, because Senbonzakura and the costumes that go with it are amazing.

Though I did ask over at the post:

Why are you releasing the extra songs costumes as paid DLC and not including them, as you did with the PS3 version? Kind of feels like you're shafting Vita owners, almost punishing them for not having a PS3.

Well, at the very least I'd expect the songs to be a lot cheaper than they were in Japan.
Did they mention if the save transfer tool will be available in the Western version?

Okay, I think I might be okay with this response:

Great question.

In Japan, they released the PS VITA version first, and then the PS3 version later. The PS3 version had more songs included, and so to offer these same songs to PS VITA owners, they released these as an “Extra Song Pack” piece of DLC. It was a relatively premium-priced item. ($30 or so, I believe.)

On our side, we released the versions in reverse order, which probably makes it a little confusing – why not just find a way to bundle in all the DLC songs into the main game, right? The reality is that would add a lot of dev work and push out the game release, so we decided to find an option that would satisfy our fans while still releasing the game as soon as possible.

This will be covered in even greater detail when we discuss pricing, but what I can tell you now is that even though these songs will be DLC, we’ve aimed to make sure that the price points are balanced between the platforms. You won’t be paying any more than a PS3 user would to get the full game and all of this DLC along with it. :)

I bet the game is going to be priced at $30 and the song pack (Snow Miku not included) DLC at $10 for a total of $40, that's still $10 less than the PS3 version.

It would be stupid if those DLC aren't free.

Thats basically paying full price of complete game on Vita.

I want to try this series out but not in March. Too many games so I'll just wait till it gets discounted, or even better free on PS+

I just wanna hear what the price is. I'd prefer portable since I can listen with headphones & have it on the go, but for digital only, hoping it's a decent price.

Does anyone know if this has a separate trophy list from the Japanese version? How did the PS3 game work?

Really curious about the pricing of the DLC...

This would be a quadruple dip for me(PSV Physical, PS3 digital, PS3 physical NA and now this) but i will probably wait a bit, PDF2 is coming in march too after all.

The Japanese version share the list with Vita/ PS3.

US PS3 list here was separate from Japanese one and they say that US Vita version is separate from US PS3 one so I'm going to its not going to be shared with the Japanese one also.

Okay, I think I might be okay with this response:
I don't buy it, not when they're bringing that DLC on day-1 as well, separately.

They just didn't want to bundle them and end up selling the package over the unofficial $39 price ceiling for Vita games. They'll probably sell the extra pack for $10 and it'll end up having the same content and costing the same $49 as the PS3 version.

Just need to hear the price point now.
I already have the Japanese import so I can't see myself jumping on it if it's 39.99
Think I might cave at 29.99 though

I like how he says it won't cost more than PS3 version in that comment.
And says
as well as the Extra Songs Pack for PS VITA, will be available to purchase on Day 1!

Then over here also

For some of the DLC, but not all. (Like the Extra Songs Pack.) The standard version of the PS VITA game will also be priced cheaper than the standard version of the PS3 equivalent.

You won’t be paying any more than a PS3 user would to get the full game and all of this DLC along with it. :)

It won't cost more than PS3, but could be the same price after dlc?

And you're right. Why don't they bundle it in so when you buy the game, so it downloads along with the game and thats the same thing just not being priced.

I know he said I will be "satisfied" with their pricing , but I hope that holds true still so I will wait to see what got to say on that....

I guess that's because the localization budget is too small for that. It's probably easier/cheaper to leave the game as it is than to make new code to allow for the songs to be included into the game from the get go.

Just make the extra song pack bonus DLC, like the "Atelier Totori Plus WITH BONUS" lol.

Prepare for $39 for the base game, plus $10 for the extra songs.

I'm not saying to include this within the game, I'm saying to bundle the downloads with the game.

Yeah like that.

No triple buy for me.

I seriously doubt they'd be teasing a cheaper price if they meant "cheaper than PS3" since all Vita games are cheaper than default PS3 pricing. That's just a recipe to make everyone mad.

I'm guessing $30 personally.

I gotta admit, back then I promised that I would buy the NA Vita release if they ever did it, but with the sequel being released on the same month I'm probably not going to bother.

They're just too late in releasing this. Too bad.

Also making us pay for the Extra songs is kinda dumb. I know they couldn't retroactively make them built-in into the game proper but they could at least make it free. Doesn't make sense to charge DLC for stuff that was in a version that was released first.

Think of it this way: People are more likely to impulse-buy the game for $30 (I'm using that price just for this example), then later drop another $10 for the extra songs versus paying $40 for the game+"free" extra songs DLC from the outset.

I'll wait for free PS+ if this is the case.

Absolutely, this makes zero sense. I hope they price the game accordingly.

I'd like to say that I will hold out for $30 or less since I already bought the PS3 version but having Miku on the go on the Vita is probably worth $39.99 if that's what they decide to go with.

There's a convenience factor for me that is present on the Vita that is not present on the PS3. These days, I just get far more time to game in odd times and odd places (which is why my Vita gets so much use) than I do sitting in front of my TV.

For me, Miku "on the go" can't come soon enough.

And to whoever asked about Project Mirai, I would second that. I had an OG J-3DS pretty much just for the original Project Mirai and I enjoyed that game immensely. I think American gamers would like it just as much as Project Diva f.

I'd just skip mirai in favor of mirai 2 at this point; mirai 2 is a huge improvement and repeats all of the first game's content.

Quick update via the Sega blog: it's coming on March 4 in NA and March 12 in EU. US price is $29.99. The Snow Miku and Extra Characters DLCs are cross-buy; if you've already bought them on PS3 you automatically own them on Vita and vice versa.

The old OT has been updated with this info.

Good price. Now we just need DLC prices. As I said, I'm buying the Senbonzakura-related items if nothing else.

Hmmm, I know Sega likes to do sales on XBLA/PSN, so I might wait for it to be $20-ish. Though great to hear that the DLC is cross-buy.
