Hatsune Miku Project Diva series general discussion thread

anyone got any tips for getting the clear I'll Miku Miku You (For Reals) with 39 of cool, fine, sad or worst? i tried getting 39 worst but i can't get enough just to get standard to pass the song, i've tried it on all 4 diffs as well
I got that one on normal using the help item that revives you with full health when your life meter runs out. Even while doing that you will fail if you just try to get 39 worst notes from the start so you have to hit a few notes at the start to give yourself enough health.
The best way to do this is to play the song normally without missing a note and remember where you get a combo of say 44 or so. Then start the song again, play the first five notes then stop pressing buttons until you get to where your combo was before and you'll have 39 worst. Depending on how many notes you play at the start before stopping you will pretty much have the lowest amount of health remaining when you get your 39th worst so you need to play the rest of song really well and you have to finish every technical zone and chance time otherwise you won't pass the song at the end.

Does hitting the wrong button count?

So after a month of it being shipped Diva f 2nd arrived at my door the other day and as someone who hasn't played since the 2nd one on PSP I can certainly say I'm in love with the visuals.

I still can't get my head around the scratch mechanic properly and I muck it up more than not but the song selection now and song variety is awesome <3

Anyone with plat on PDF2nd got a rough estimate of how much DP you had ever in the game? trying to figure out how much i would need after i finish the last 10 or so challenges on the songs
curse you million point challenges

Currently have 3.53m all together and 2.21m in the bank but i haven't bought any furniture and have been using it to mostly buy the modules for the certain songs, couple accessories for the face and gifts for the diva room

Im so close to my platnium on the vita. Need to grind out more diva points for the overpriced "fanservice" modules. So excited for f 2nd in the west though!

I have the plat and getting everything cost me around probably cost me around 5-6 million DP, but I did transfer my save data to get most of the modules from PDf for free. Getting all those modules would probably add a couple million DP to that total. Getting DP shouldn't really be much of an issue when you have to play 50 songs with each character to get the plat, anyways.

I'm currently going through the song-specific unlock goals (ie. the Information Board) in F 2nd, it's a really cool addition to the game, as it gives you specific things to do that you may not have bothered with otherwise (use a specific challenge, use a specific accessory, reach a specific score, etc.)

It's a nice addition, but some of the challenges that requires you play the song 10 or more times (to get enough points or combos) to unlock stuff sucks.

Fun fact: the Live/AR Concert songs in F 2nd are all taken directly from the Magical Mirai concert in August 2013. I have the Blu-ray of that concert and I can confirm that they're an accurate reproduction in regards to the audio, the character (including default outfit), the lighting, and the projected video.

i'm trying to get all the items in pdf2nd, i have 52 or more requests and びっくり時計 still hasn't made an appearance yet which it was supposed to at 50 requests, anyone else have this problem?
it's the last item i need to buy to get the trophy and it's annoying me

You'll just have to keep doing requests until it shows up. The gap between the 2nd to last item and the wall clock is pretty massive.

it's taking so long to get the plat just because with every sketchbook(done with it) or calligraphy, they always do the exact same ones and always using the item makes them dislike it after awhile so I have to give them something else before coming back to it...such a grind

I decided to play the demo of the first game in this series today. I have zero experience in rhythm games, but I found it surprisingly enjoyable. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. It was hard for me though, I had to try the second song on normal nearly six times before I beat it. I am now very interested in this series now, when is the second game coming out? I might just buy it.

If you mean F, it's actually the fourth game in the series (excluding the arcade spin-off), though it was the first to be released outside Asia. F 2nd is available for preorder on Amazon but doesn't have a concrete date beyond "Fall 2014" yet. It came out almost two months ago in Japan if you would like to import, however.

No importing for me, I will just wait. I have enough games to go through these next few months anyway.

Uh... wow...

Let me put it this way. Were it not for the fanservice, this would rank up very highly in my list of favorite PV, since the animation was very well done, especially seeing as how it was seemingly done by one person. But man, the fanservice is WAY over the top, and it's truly detrimental to the video :(.
Hell, if you can pause the video at the right moment, there's even a nipple showing :lol... I swear I didn't searched for it intentionally

Ashes to ashes is an odd case, and one that will murder you if you can't double tap correctly. It wasn't until recently when I learned how to properly do it. Before that, I was barely making it through the song in extreme, outright failing it in some cases. Nowadays I don't exactly perfect the song, but at least I can get "Excellent" consistently.

Yeah, double-tapping is something I'm slowly learning how to do. Some songs still trip me up in that regard (mostly due to my brain derping and forgetting which direction equals which button), but I'm definitely better at it than I was when I first started playing.

I've had a glance through this thread and also the OT thread also and there have been many stories about people getting hooked onto this game and then their life "ends", so to speak...

So I thought I would share my story on the game.

As an Aussie who isn't a complete newbie to rhythm games (FreqQ/Amp, Gitaroo Man, GH & RB, etc...) this series is something that passed me by, perhaps despite the PSP being region free, it basically remained 100% local. I knew of people talking about it (PDf specifically), but again I never really followed up on anything.

Roll around March 2014 and the Vita gets a demo, for shits and giggles I downloaded it on the 26th March and I believe my thoughts on the demo were something like..

Sooooooo..... Downloaded the demo...
Played the demo on the way home...
Failed a few times due to public transport issues...
Didn't fully read instructions so, NFI what I was also doing...
Got a bunch of Standard clears...
Checked PS Store, $43???
Fuck that, will wait for sale or PS+

.... 24hrs later ... I had found out that Perfect meant no dropped notes, and decided that Excellent was the highest rank... achieved that for the 3 songs and then deleted the demo...

Apr 4th - Cracked and bought it off PSN (I'm so weak! even if was still a week!) , this game is my to and from work game.

Apr 8th - I cleared Normal with a mix of Great/Excellent rankings, didn't do Easy at the moment, and tried the first song on Hard and then that same song on Extreme. Going to be rather fun and intense to try and "Excellent" this game!

Apr 14th - DLC purchased... (OMG, what is happening to me!)

May 2nd - I have a major problem with this game now and that is that I keep moving the goalposts...

Easy & Normal are all now at Perfect rank... and I have about 4-5 Perfects under Hard (one of which was a 7-8 Star difficulty), the OCD in me suggests that if I can Perfect one of the harder songs on Hard, then I can do them all.

May 21st - All hard songs all completed to Perfect. Still not much time has been spent on Extreme songs. My ultimate goal for Hard was to not use any Bonus items and I cleared that, Rin-chan Now! for some reason was the sticking point song, only took 39 complete playthroughs to get it, numerous retries obviously!

Looking at game time, 70hrs! the fuck did all that time go! lol

I'm at the crossroads though at the moment, largely being a button only player, I need to train myself on using the D-Pad more, so going to dive into the Diva Room stuff for another 10-20hrs or so and then come back to learn in Extreme, I'm honest enough to know that Extreme would be the death of me, so hopefully finishing it and perhaps a global average of 95% is enough for me.

By that time, comes about, I'll have likely imported the PS3 version also and happily do this all over again! God damn addictive songs that I don't understand a single word of!!!!!!

I had a fairly similar experience myself, though I bought the game a bit earlier than you so I'm well into the Expert range now (with almost 150 hours of gameplay...!). Somehow I now have a global average of 99.8, and only need 6 more Expert perfects (still haven't cleared Rin-chan Now! higher than Standard rank, though...)

Also, this happened, I'm not even sure how I managed it:

After years of this franchise, for the first time EVER... I have managed to get a Perfect score on an Extreme difficulty song.

It's probably one of the easier ones but I don't even care. I nearly squealed in my seat when I realized it. Feels so damn good.

I wouldn't say my life has ended thanks to miku but it sure has changed ive never been so obsessed about a game since i got project diva f in march for my vita. I loved the game so much i even imported project diva f 2nd a week later. its not just the games ive even became attach to miku herself within the past month ive bought 3 wall-scrolls of her and i bought 5 figures of miku and i even bought a psp with all the previous games in the series.

Not gonna lie, I sorta got hooked to all things Miku related, but thankfully, lack of funds stopped me from buying a lot of things, and the only physical thing that I have is PDF PS3 (that, and I haven't played anything at all since two weeks ago due to me being in finals.)

Didin't stopped me from filling my phone with vocaloids songs, though!

Well, aren't those modules adorable?

That moment when the words "Perfect" flashes on-screen:

And finally managed to get my first perfect on PD:F. Took way longer than what I expected :/

Nice job! I still haven't Perfected DYE on Hard. =_= Something about the timing of the notes...

Thanks!

I... actually skipped perfecting Normal and Hard and went straight to play all the songs in Extreme. The way I play is: Get all the songs in a tier with at least an excellent ranking and move on to the next tier. I still need to get back to Normal and Hard to get all the Perfects that I'm missing.... and I'm pretty sure I won't be able to manage a few of them @.@

Negaposi*Continues have me in tears. I still can't get through the song, not even with a Standard rank. The best % I've gotten on it is 78.6%...

Yeah, NegiPosi is the worst. I wanted that Platinum crown so badly, too... ;_;
