Hatsune Miku Project Diva series general discussion thread

going by the numbers Sega provided there are maybe 2-3 DLC songs left.

Yeah, it's too bad a lot of people would feel cheated if they did more DLC songs that aren't included in the song club pass. I would probably keep buying songs for as long as they put them in there, well beyond what the song club encompasses.

So, i feel like an idiot for not knowing this, but there's a project diva arcade, like 15 minutes away from me.

goddammit i'm going to make up for lost time, i'll be there 24/7.

Wait, a song from Arcade??

I was just thinking today that it would be impossible for them to have a DLC Kaito song because every Kaito song in the console games is already in F or F 2nd. So... porting from Arcade was clearly the only option.

This opens up a whole pool of possibilities... but going by the numbers Sega provided there are maybe 2-3 DLC songs left.

This is another case where the DLC songs weren't part of the poll results as well. I wonder how sales have been, and if Sega will be rethinking that estimated number. There's about 6 or so that haven't been released that were on the original list of the top 39 poll, though there is no guarantee we are getting the full list either.

Promise was probably in my personal top 5, so I'm very happy to see it return.

I'm pretty sure I've spent more on DLC than my imported copies of the game at this point D:

Via Famitsu: there have been some Project mirai DX, F 2nd, and Arcade announcements at the Snow Miku festivities. For F 2nd, we know of some DLC hitting in March: 初めての恋が終わる時 by ryo and a Snow Miku 2015 module.

(ugh triple post, but wanted to make sure you guys saw this too)

Assuming I can arrange delivery of JP PSN funds in time (buying JP DLC is horrendously expensive) I plan to stream tomorrow night, featuring new DLC as usual. So far my streams have been just the screen capture; are people interested in seeing what my hands are doing? I'm not 100% sure I can set it up in time but I can give it a shot if it's something people want to see.

DLC next week: 5th March

Strange that no UI skins this round.

They also showed a new mini-game in Mirai.

Maybe this has already been asked, but there's all these articles about Sega saying it's switching focus to PC and mobile. What does that mean for the future of the series?

Hasn't been much speculation in these threads. Still, Crypton has as much of a say in this as Sega, and they'll want to keep things going somehow - they wouldn't even have character animations for the Miku concerts without Sega's work.

Any one own any vocaloid albums?

Thinking about checking a few out? Any recommendations? Not really sure where to start.

If you're thinking about importing physical CDs, start with getting some used Exit Tunes compilations on Amazon for cheap. The Vocalo- series is pretty much a definitive guide to the most popular songs over the years.

If you're going to go digital, a lot of the best-known producers have their albums on iTunes/Amazon: wowaka, Deco*27, 40mp, HachiojiP, livetune and the like. There are also live albums for recent concerts, like Miku Expo and Magical Mirai 2014.

Awesome, Thanks.

I'll have to check them out.

Supercell's debut album is awesome - has Melt, Black Rock Shooter and a couple of others from the Diva games too.

Also got 4 live concerts on blu-ray thus far, and there's a new one out in a few days time, love hearing the songs played live - Live in Kansai 2013 is incredible !!!

I have Mirai 2013 and the Giving Day concert from march 9, 2012. I've been mulling over the Mirai 2014 one, but ssso many songs overlap with 2013 that I dunno if it's worth it. I get a kick out of different arrangements, though, so if they're performed differently enough I might still bite.

How would you rank the ones you've got? And which ones do you have? If you don't mind me asking. :)

Ahhh sweet. That'll probably be my next item i check out.

What are the four live concerts called?

I just bought Mitchie-M - Greatest idol and the Project Diva F limited Edition CD+Bluray off amazon. So, excite!

Obviously means PROJECT DIVA ARCADE ON STEAM WITH ALL SONGS INCLUDED

I mean uh

No one knows yet, really.

I'm glad to see more DLC coming out, didn't really enjoy the songs from last time. Right now the top tier DLC songs are Rolling Girl and Ai Kotoba.

SimonM7 & cmurph :

I've got (in my personal order of awesomeness) :
Live in Kansai 2013
Magical Mirai 2013
39's Thanks Live in Tokyo/Sapporo 2011
Mikunopolis

As you say SimonM7 - lots of overlaps, but I love listening to the songs performed differently by each group of musicians.

Its crazy - I bought Project Diva F on the Vita around last November just because I fancied something different, little did I know a few months later i'd be beyond addicted to the music!!!

Oh yeah - Miku on 3DS in May !!!!!!!!

So do I! That made me especially happy with this, which is incredible: http://www.yesasia.com/global/hatsu...oncert-saigo-no/1030854058-0-0-0-en/info.html

Miku performs with a small band that includes string instruments and trumpets and stuff, and it results in some truly fantastic renditions of some songs. It's not a feast for the eyes like Mirai 2013 is, but the songs themselves make it totally worth it.

I've been eyeing Kansai 2013, too, but I've yet to bite on it. It's prolly gonna come down to that or Live Party 2012 that complements the one I linked to above.

Same here. :> I went from knowing basically nothing about vocaloids or Miku, to bbbasically not having listened to a human being in four months. I got the first game when the 2:nd was coming out, and now I have both games on both platforms, plus two concerts on blu-ray and contemplating which to get next. Initially I thought it was just a temporary fever, but I'm starting to think this is who I am now. :D

You can at least preview the audio on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/hatsune-miku-magical-mirai/id969914420

I missed that Akatsuki Arrival was added to the setlist - they've been successfully keeping the footage off Youtube, but I assume it's going to be heavily based on the F 2nd animations.

That's a great heads up! I'll give it a listen on iTunes. Thanks!

Finally, Electrosaturator! I just bought tilt-six's debut album for this one.

Wound up picking up tilt-six's album after this post, thanks for mentioning it. It's pretty good! Electro-saturator is definitely my jam at the moment. Almost perfected the Extreme version this weekend on the machine...

Another arcade favorite of mine is Lucid Dreaming by Naive P:

Not sure if Naive P has an album? Would like to hear more though.

In other Miku-related music news, I had to ball out for the Magical Mirai DVD when I found out the LE came with this:

I own the big vinyl-sized collector box for Mitchie M's "The Greatest Idol". It's proudly displayed on my shelf next to my Miku figures and looks great. Mitchie M is my favorite Vocaloid composer, Miku sounds so realistic in his songs, it's like he does some black magic or something. Wished there were more of his songs in the games.

pict-figure01.jpg

I've got this coming too, will be my first (and only) Miku figure as i'm not really into that side of things, the LE comes with a bonus disc which is my reason for forking out the extra cash.

I'm hoping Project Diva F2nd gets a full soundtrack released like the first game, love the majority of songs in that game.

For the record I own the following Crypton Vocaloid figures:
- Figma Miku 2.0
- Figma Luka
- Figma Racing Miku 2013 (my most prized figure of all!)
- Nendoroid Mikudayo

I should take a few photos when I have the time.

I'm also planning on getting the upcoming Senbonzakura Miku Nendoroid, but haven't bothered pre-ordering it yet.

Yeah, that is insanely adorable. I honestly don't even know how I'll be able to play Project Mirai DX without toppling over.

The Figma ones really are surprisingly well done. I'd lllove the Deep Sea Girl one more than anything, though, but it costs a fortune and a half.

If this Luka didn't have those porny nipples that I'd be embarrassed to display on my shelf, I'd love one of these, too. It's stupidly great otherwise.

I've never played any of the Miku games, but I probably should. Every screen looks akin to Boom Boom Rocket which I really didn't enjoy. I enjoy JPop and also enjoy many other rhythm games, though, like GH/Rock Band. Should I try out a lil Hatsune?

There is a demo of DIVA F on PSN. It should give you a pretty good idea of what gameplay is like on a basic level, though the demo axes the two harder difficulty levels.

You should definitely try the Project Diva games. They're among my favourite rhythm games by far.
No idea about the Project Mirai titles though, but I'll be picking that up when it comes to NA this Summer.

Edit: And as StarCreator said, there is a demo available for DIVA F (and the harder difficulties in the full game are much more fun).

Of course I would personally recommend DIVA f/F (Vita or PS3) over DIVA F 2nd.

Project Mirai reminded me of the Final Fantasy Theatrhythm games if that makes sense.

Announcing about a day in advance and copying here for those that don't subscribe to the F 2nd OT: I plan to stream tomorrow night since it's a JP DLC release night. Stream time depends highly on when the DLC actually comes out but judging from last time it will probably be around 9pm eastern.

Those two are much more elaborate than Figmas. Figmas are poseable and much cheaper - still not exactly impulse buys, though. (All you need to know about this line: most of the milestone product numbers are saved for new versions of Miku.)

What little I know about collectibles tells me that Miku does inspire some of the most wanted items out there. Here is the Love Is War DX figure - its reputation (and price) are legendary.

Oh I know, I didn't mean to clump them together. I do think the Figmas, for their price, look surprisingly accurate and are painted considerably better than similarly priced figurines from other properties, though. You can barely tell who most western figurines in that price range are supposed to look like.

I only buy Figmas and Nendoroids because to me, static figures feel boring. You just put it somewhere and then that's it, it's just a permanent decoration.

The only static figure I own is a huge figure of Kyouko from Danganronpa.

I'm not a person who collect figures at all, but if there's one I've always wanted, is this one. I've seen it online, but man, it is expensive :<

I gotta say... Ryo/Supercell is sort of incredible to me. Look This Way Baby doesn't quite grab me, but almost every one of his more somber songs get to me in a kinda.. scarily consistent way. There's always at least one part of his melodies that send me straight to goosebump central, and I think Odds & Ends may still be my favourite Miku song of all of them.

Which.. I guess feels a little predictable since I'm assuming it was picked to be the intro song to F because it was already really popular. But anyway. I just gotta hand it to him. I feel strongly about Black Rock Shooter from that game as well, and Sekiranun Graffiti, Melt and World is Mine in 2nd are easily some of my faves in that.

Runner up is prolly livetune/kz.

I'm basing this mainly on the games and concerts, so my pool could certainly be bigger. But yah. That's... That's that off my chest, I guess. :>

Oh and about the Love is War statue - it's really cool, but it creeps me out way too hard.

I don't even know what the lyrics are saying in Odds & Ends, and yet it still gets me emotional every time. The song feels so... powerful.

Yeah I felt that way, too. When I saw the concert version after loving it in the game, it nearly made me cry.

Finally I built up the courage to look into the meaning of the song. It's auto biographical, and Ryo's last - it's a farewell song with/to Miku.

The wording is a little bit stilted in the translation in that anime fansub way, but it actually brings the lyrics across well.

There is an official translation if you get the AR Live DLC for F 2nd. It seems more accurate, and does some additional work to make the words fit the meter.

The official music video is great as well. I suspect this might be the most high-budget Vocaloid video to date.

That makes me like the song so much more, and it's already my favorite. I had read a fan translation before, but it wasn't all that accurate. It also didn't go into what the song was.

Odds and Ends is what got me into listening outside of the Project Diva games. I had been playing the game for three months, but in a very, VERY slow fashion. (I mean, the fact that it took three months to unlock a song says something.) Once I turned it on the first time, man. Blown-away. There were songs prior that were fun to play. But this I was playing to listen to, not for a game.

If I could have any one Vocaloid figure made, it would be Odds and Ends' Module (Heartbeat, I think?) with the books. Could be where she's extending her arm out atop them, or where she's resting against them. Either one works.

Uh-oh, I'm starting to notice things like this:

Also, it is disappointing that Odds & Ends isn't even on iTunes here (except for the live version from last year).
