Have I received a scam e-mail?

I posted on Craigslist to sell my PS2/Network Adapter/Hard drive. In addition to a few other interested buyers, I also received this e-mail:

"thanks for the response. i would go and make payment tommorrow to you if you send me your address today. This item is not for me but for a nephew of mine who is in college in Nigeria .i would arrange/pay for a FedEx pick-up once payment approval confirmation email has been sent to you from Western Union BidPay,acknowledging the payment, which would normally be delivered within 3-5 business days.. Are you okay with this payment method?
reply me asap,'cause i want this transaction completed asap."

Doesn't sound safe to me. I e-mailed her back that I'd need cash in my hands or in my bank account before I'd be willing to let FedEx pick up the PS2.

If it's in Nigeria...

Yea, exactly my thoughts. I don't expect a reply from her. Although it might have been fun do to some sort of p-p-p-ps2! thing back to her. Send a brick in a box.

Nevermind, I just saw Nigeria without reading everything else.

So I assumed it was those standard nigerian scams.

That's how bidpay works. You can get your confirmation from Western Union and ship right away, with the promise from Western Union that you'll get your money soon. I've done transactions that way before.

I'll admit it looks a little odd though. Maybe this person thinks he/she can back out and get a refund after you ship it, but I don't know if that's possible.

Manics posted a topic about his friend chatting with someone from a dating service who used the same type of scam (nigeria, bidpay, western union, etc)

They may have every angle covered, but we have our COLLECTIVE THINKING and nobody can beat that.

Send him a brick. With love.

Here's her reply:

"hello there,
Western Union Auction Payments( BidPay) is an affiliate of Western Union Money Transfer, but is quite different because it uses a special money order payment method, which would normally be delivered within 3-5 business days.I will make the payment if you senbd me your address today and payment approval confirmation email will be sent to you from Western Union Auction Payments( BidPay ),acknowledging the payment. And i would arrange/pay for a FedEx pick-up once payment approval confirmation email has been sent to you .Are you okay with this?
expecting your reply."

Perhaps it is legit as Space Age Playboy says, and I really do need to get this sold. Any insurances with BidPay?

you know, the whole "Nigeria" thing kind of clues people in to the scam so why don't they change the country every now and then? Maybe say the nephew-son-client is in, oh I don't know, Liberia.
