My god I haven't seen a tiny mosquito all year. The only ones I've been seeing are the giant sized variaety. Body measuring 2-3cm in length with the legs outstretched giving it up to an estimated 5-7cm diameter (if you picture it like a circle). WTF is going on?
Toronto. I've had a day where I've killed 12 giant mosquitos in one night. They just hang around your doors and windows waiting for you to make the mistake of opening it. Bloody leeches. But at least they run away from you since they're easily detected. Yesterday I hit one with a piece of cardboard and it smacked the wall which was about two metres away. That was satisfaction at it's best and yet it was still alive. Monsters you can't even slay...
Do creatures like this even have a greater purpose?
I mean -- keep the stuff that pollinates our crops, helps our world be a better place etc... but can we please genetically eradicate the annoying things in life?
I live in Richmond Hill, and we have them too. These don't bite, their just big. So you need not to worry. Its the small ones you don't want, so be greatful.
The really big ones are male mosquitoes. If they're really male mosquitoes, they won't bite you. It's only the smaller female variety that will, since they need your blood to reproduce properly.
mosquitos are seemingly exist as nothing but a food source for other bigger insects. So if you cut them out dragonflies would die off, and if they died off you cut off food for some birds and it just keeps going up.
