despite what distantmantra says, i will give them a listen =p
thanks.

I was just giving you a warning, as they really sound nothing like The Bravery or the rest of the "21st century new wave post-punk" movement.

The best description is a very rough sounding goth dance act. At times the songs are actually good, other times it's almost unlistenable.

The Faint are okay.. nothing special IMO. I was a big proponent of The Bravery but I grew tired of them. They're almost too ridiculous for their own good (I laughed reading the comments in this month's Spin since they so closely echoed my own thoughts).

Oh yeah, and ditto on The Faint sounding nothing like The Bravery.

I saw a poster for Supersystem at the local indie shop the other day, care to fill me in on them?

The Bravery are completely ridiculous, but I find their music to be a total guilty pleasure, much like The Killers. In person, they're actually really nice people. I went to an in-store performance and signing they did in Seattle and got my An Honest Mistake 7" signed, and they were nothing but gracious and polite. However, the album just came out at the time so maybe things have gone to their head since then.

:lol upon just finishing my first complete listen to Danse Macabre, I have to agree with this.
Some of the songs I was into, and others I was like "what the fuck am i listening to?" (Let the Poison Spill from Your Throat in particular)

If you're still interested, try Blank Wave Arcade, I find it to be the most accessible. Wet From Birth, their latest, is alright as well.

I saw The Faint open for Bright Eyes a couple months back... I do not understand The Faint fans at all.

they play music in the same vein as the other bands i mentioned, ie, fun, danceable indie pop.
but they are influenced by afro-cuban music a lot, so the beats and guitar leads are very different, the lyrics are very hippy, ie, respect for all creation and all that earthy stuff. very fun to listen to, great quirky guitar tones and leads, and great beats. you should check them out if possible.
but as with most other bands of this type, they might get boring after a while.

I can't help it! Country is awesome. :D

I picked up a Cocorosie album yesterday titled "Noah's Ark" at Reckless Records. Couldn't find out any info on it 'til just now, discovering it's not due 'til 9/2005. Weird. Looks like it's an advance. Wonder how that ended up at Reckless haha.

Anyway, it has the song of the year. It's a song featuring Antony & the Johnsons callled "Beautiful Boys". OMG it's so good, find it if ya can. The rest of the album is fantastic, but that song just stands out with such a disgustingly memorable chorus.

Ok, i'm done raving. :lol

If anyone wants this song, send me a PM.

And bell woods clear out your message box, I think it's full.
