HBO Max getting the Snyder Cut

The “Snyder Cut” is real and it’s coming to HBO Max. During a Vero livestream of Man of Steel on Wednesday, Zack Snyder finally confirmed once and for all that fans will get to see his mythical edit of Justice League. The director’s cut will arrive to the streaming platform in 2021.

How to get HBO Max, whether you subscribe to HBO already or not
Breaking down HBO Now, HBO cable, and internet package deals to unlock the streaming service

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HBO, HBO GO, HBO NOW, AND HBO MAX?
First of all, it’s important to understand the various versions of HBO that now exist.

  • HBO: You get this by subscribing through a pay-TV provider, usually a cable company. It gives you access to HBO via old-school “linear” television channels.
  • HBO Go: This is the digital side of HBO, and it comes with the standard subscription above. If you get HBO through a cable TV package, you can use your cable company account to log in to the HBO Go app or the HBO website to stream all of HBO’s on-demand content at your leisure, rather than having to watch it via the TV channels.
  • HBO Now: This is HBO’s stand-alone streaming service. It’s a separate subscription that doesn’t give you access to HBO’s TV channels, but it does give you a login for the HBO website and the HBO Now app, which has all of HBO’s on-demand content. If you don’t have cable TV and are digital-only, this is the way you would subscribe to HBO.
  • HBO Max: This is WarnerMedia’s new streaming service. It has all of HBO’s on-demand content as well as content from WarnerMedia’s other brands, including various animated shows, the DC Universe of shows and films, and hundreds of classic movies. This has a number of different subscription options that we’ll describe below.

There’s no real reason to have anything on this list other than HBO Max, if you can help it. Max gives you all the content the other services offer, along with all the extra WarnerMedia content.

Then it goes to break down who already gets HBO Max, and who doesn't (automatically). Too much to quote

Basically if you have HBO through an App, you should be getting Max automatically, if you have HBO through TV you wont, or something like that. Details the exceptions, worth reading if you are confused

HBO now? HBO go? HBO max? HBO?

Why in the hell do they have so many labels? Other services have just one and you can watch it through browser, an app, streaming device, etc.

I read an article that claimed an exec from HBO called it “an IQ test” when asked if people would subscribe to HBO Go and HBO Max (Max has all the regular HBO content plus exclusive original content).

Isn't HBO Now just changing to HBO Max? So you won't be able to sign up to HBO Now anymore?
As for HBO Go, that's simply attached to your existing cable subscription and you can't sign up to it individually.

The article I read a few months ago madd it seem like they co-existed. So someone who didn’t know better could have a 15 dollar sub to HBO through their Amazon Prime Video account and a separate hbo max sub

maybe this is inaccurate

Hopefully it will get cleared up or if Now sticks around at least rename it to HBO Lite or some shit.

More than a month away. Looks great. I'm watching their free stuff now I'm on like episode 6 of The Wire pretty good so far. Netflix is gonna be my mainstay but I might cancel it for a month and switch to this for a month and just switch back and forth. I usually stay focused on one series at a time anyways.

New Looney Tunes!?! Man I'd loved to have worked on them, but.... it's going to suck isn't it? Maybe not. If they had some originals in there I'd be well up for it.

It's something I miss about tv growing up, they would sometimes just put on a Roadrunner cartoon. BBC 4 had a Keith Richards weekend a few years ago where he got to choose which films and shows were on. One of them was a Foghorn Leghorn cartoon. Pretty good.

so confused with all the hbo streaming apps....

i just stick with hbo sub and expect to be able to view all their content whereever on whatever.

im 50/50 on the looneytunes - the animation looks half okay half janky. the gags look decent like they are trying to maintain the soul of the old stuff. the new voices just ruin the characters for me though.

elmo show - out of all the sesame characters, im not a HUGE elmo fan, but they definitely struck the right idea with using the kids iconic character and celebrities so parents can somewhat enjoy it. not really sure though how it will go... like, the 7-10 yr olds will prob be turned off since "elmos for babies", and toddlers will be bored/not understand the content. and the adults will just suffer through the too sweet & little meat to make it wholly enjoyable.

The yellow gloves are freaking annoying.

omg just dawned on me. fuck that shit!

Just FYI there’s a special deal right now where it’s 12 bucks a month for the first year instead of 15 bucks a month when you pre-order Max. You get instant access to HBO Now as well

I still prefer the method of buying iTunes credit for 20 percent off and then using iTunes to turn the sub on and off. Much easier than dealing with each service provider individually.

Also, why will HBO Now still exist when Max is out? Isn't it the same price as Max but with less content and less functionality (no user profiles).

HBO Max will launch with Lord of the Rings trilogy, but I dunno if it is theatrical cuts or extended versions

Also, according to Campea, there are rumors swirling that HBO Max will get the Snyder Cut

Oh I didn't realize this was new content. It could be alright, though I would wager that given the state of clown world and comedy, the classics will probably be better.

I don't know exactly how much there is but based on that trailer it looks like they have at least one season of new original Looney Tunes ready for the launch. Looks pretty decent to me, but I am not a huge fan or anything, just a filthy casual

According to Wikipedia the show will "consist of 1,000 minutes spread across 1–6 minute shorts"

popped in here because i love classic Looney Tunes. sad to hear these are new episodes. but maybe they are good? eh... i can't imagine. has anyone seen them? last thing in the world i want to see is Bugs Bunny joking about Twitter.

I honestly didn't realize that Canada didn't automatically get all the same stuff too.

HBO Max will soon make its debut in America, but up north in Canada, existing content deals will make the service a bit trickier to access. Due to various quirks of Canada's telecommunications laws, standalone streaming services can sometimes get tripped up when launching there.

Canadians who wish to view HBO Max content will only be able to do so via subscribing to Bell Media's Crave streaming service. Crave costs $9.99 per month, then another $9.99 per month to access the HBO add-on.

No surprise, but consoles will have the updated app at launch

Dude shit is getting retarded. I searched for "HBO max cost", and I'm getting results for HBO Max, HBO Go, and HBO NOW, I have no idea what the fuck is going on anymore and no interest in keeping up. Seeing this just makes me order more blu rays.

It's simple
GBO Go = digital platform for cable subscribers
HBO Now = digital platform for people who do not have a cable subscription. This will convert to HBO Max.
