Hello from Kuwait City.

Hi all, I'm in Kuwait this place is kinda crazy. There are no what one would call "driving" laws. This one guy had a direct TV dish mounted to the top of his car and was watching TV while driving.

Hey, I lived in Jiddah, Saudi Arabia and visited Bahrain often...

How's the weather? 40+ and sunny, right?

Well it's 10:00 pm here so the weather is cool and it's dark. 40 in what? C?

Yes. When I lived in Jiddah, it would be 45c sometimes... That comes out to 110-115. But it was a dry heat.

I love that part of the world. It's beautiful. Too bad politics has gone to shit.

What do you think of Kuwait City? If you get a chance, go to Dubai. You'll love it.

I have a question.

Are foreigners allowed to drink alcohol in Kuwait? I was under the impression that religious laws forbade the locals from getting plastered, but I'm curious as to whether that also applies to foreign nationals working there.

It was pretty cool here when I got off the plane I would say it is in the mid 19.5 C/60s F. Once I get my bearing I'll have to do that. I do have to say that the city from what I've seen is beautiful.

You know this isn't possible, right?

In the Middle East, anything is possible. That dish may be used to spy on his wives as they chatter about his prowess in bed. Or, watch tv.

Saudi Arabia is pretty much the only place where alcohol is expressely forbidden.

And Coca-Cola products (as the Saudis think they're part of the Zionist empire)...

...and dairy products! You can't get fresh cow milk there. Only goat milk that's been processed for bacteria and/or powdered milk from Europe. Both, IMO, taste like bollocks.

Tom, it's probably a really good thing for you that you come from a place that's pretty hot itself. When you say 19 is pretty cool, to me, it has room to get maybe 5-8 degrees warmer before I'm done :)

I would have thought it impossible if you would have asked me that 2 hours ago as well.

If that vehicle was moving, he wasn't watching any satellite broadcasts. I don't care how much oil they got over there, it ain't enough to change the laws of physics. Probably had a DVD running or something.

This may be true I didn't have the time, requsite superpowers, or the language skills needed to jump out of the car @ 110 KM/H and ask him specifically what he was doing. All I know is that there was a direct TV satellite bolted to the top of his car and that there was the blue tv light coming from near the center of the console and the guy was clearly more engaged in whatever was on TV than the road.

Last time I was in Kuwait was in 1998. Kuwait City was great, but the softball fields they had for the EMAC tournament I was playing in were awful.

ROFL. "J'accuse...!!!!!111!!11!" :lol Whatever.

I lived in Saudia City on the Corniche in Jiddah, about 5k from the Med, bro. On the way to school in my bullet proof, chauffer driven 1983 Chevy Surburban (as women weren't , I'd pass Fahad's royal palace. I went to PCS, which was a private school for foreign students. We had Pakistanis, Irish, Brits, Yanks, Russians, French, etc. It was great. And dude, the only milk us westerners could get in our compounds was powdered milk or the sterilized milk in boxes from Europe. Maybe it's changed since the mid 1980s. I remember right before I left Jiddah the first western fast food restaurant was going up near one of the main souks.
