Hello There, Racists!

People NEED to find these things shocking. That is NOT alright.

Yea they are. As far as i can tell, these kids are not mentally handicapped in any way. They are very well aware of what they are saying, and yes, their lives SHOULD be destroyed for it. Hateis not something that should be nurtured or forgiven. Hate is not something you just decide to drop one day. Do you really think these kids are suddenly going to wake up one day and think "you know what, blacks are A-OK!"

Technically, they're not. That portion of the brain that determines their ability to fully make those decision doesn't' fully develop till mid 20's. Not excusing their actions, but there's a reason why juveniles are treated differently than adults in the system. There's plenty of studies to support the claim. They're mentally more likely to do stupid shit than adults are. Most, not all, will grow out of it simply by "growing up" and becoming more exposed to the world around them. With that said, there needs to be punishment for their actions. Not slaps on the wrist. Seeing how we don't have laws in place for this, internet justice is the best we can work with right now. It is what it is.

Oh well, I get my laughs from watching them try and deal from the backlash lol.

If these idiots are dumb enough to post these terrible things, let be them be shamed.

Being discriminated against makes you feel sub-human.There is no place for it in this world.

They learned it from their parents. They're tweeting about it publicly with their friends. What makes you think the world around them will do a thing to change that? The world they know is racist and bigoted.

I would not want anyone who's said any of these things to be my future president or even babysit my children
I dont think you have to worry about these people becoming President.

As for the babysitting thing, there's a lot of people in your life that have probably said and done some pretty crappy things earlier in their life that you just dont know about. I agree that people can change and I wouldn't want any of this information to ruin some good opportunity for one of these kids way down the line *if* they've become a better person, but I also wouldn't mind these kids getting some flak for it now while they're still young. I dont believe ignoring it is a help as it just increases the chances that nothing will change for them and they'll be saying the same things as adults. People can be 'enlightened' on their own, but I dont think its such a harmful thing to open their eyes a bit earlier. I think the worst that'll happen in truth is that they'll maybe be shunned by some people they know, perhaps they'll lose their job at whatever lowly place they're working at right now, but I dont see this stuff being dug up 10 years from now, not with all the increasingly ridiculous amounts of information that gets posted by people and not if they've actually changed.

I mean, are you actually going to go and track down 10 year old Facebook posts when deciding on a babysitter? What sort of positions would honestly come under such scrutiny?

Yeah. I understand "why" they're doing it, but I really can't say I feel any sympathy from their information being posted. This isn't something silly like committing thefts, that can easily be grown out of. This is hate, which is a lot tougher to grow out of. Though, I don't think most of them truly feel hate. It's more of them posting stupid shit to get attention or repeating their racist ass parents. Still, doesn't excuse them from getting regulated. It's not acceptable even if you truly don't feel that way.

People share their prejudices on the internet and put their face next to it. Let them go that route. Easier to spot and avoid altogether.

It's amazing how people don't restrain themselves on the internet, but then complain when it comes back to bite them in the ass.

I'm not sure what bothers me more...the racism or the creepy stalking/shaming of this tumblr. Not to mention the vaguely anti-free speech/fascistic nature of the whole thing.

A lot of these twitter users seem young and misguided but even if they aren't, I don't see how harassing them online will improve the situation and may even lead to a crime. It will certainly increase the e-notoriety of this tumblr user.

Consequences are a foreign concept in today's instant-post/always-on world.

From my understanding, the constitutional right to free speech in the US means that what these guys are doing, despite being reprehensible, is not illegal. Another example of this is NAMBLA. They are allowed to exist because all they allegedly do is talk about loving young boys.

Speech which incites violence (ie calls to assassinate Obama) is NOT covered under the 1st Amendment. This is why the Secret Service are knocking on the doors of these ignorant fucks.

So they shouldn't be shamed for their actions? Shouldn't the racism bother you more? This isn't anti-free speech, the government isn't telling them they can't say these things. Free speech doesn't mean free from consequence.

All of this is pretty common on twitter apparently. Here's some anti semetic stuff wishing Hitler would have killed all the jews.

http://twitchy.com/2012/11/15/hitler-should-have-killed-you-all-anti-semites-explode-over-gaza/

And a bunch of assassinate Romney stuff:

http://twitchy.com/2012/10/17/post-...-supporters-renew-vows-to-murder-mitt-romney/

this is a worrying trend. just what is going on where people immediately jump to talk of assassination. it's crazy.

Yeah I saw this one. Another 'christian' as well. Wonder what they actually teach at her church? And he grandaddy and dad sound like real nice guys.

I can't help but feel sorry for her in some respects. it's entirely learned behaviour, she just didn't have a chance in her environment. I doubt even getting out now would do much to reserve the damage that's already been done.

Yes, let's defend these "misguided" people who may never learn the errors of their ways. Let us antagonize the people who took the inevitable next step in exposing these already public accounts with hate filled bile. Let us re-label "consequence" as "suppression" of free speech.

No one, NOT one person here suggested that people should not be able to post whatever their heart desires no matter how damaging or inane. There is NO censoring going on here just collating the public information that is already available under the banner of "RACISM".

This law blog made a post about the legal definition of a true threat.

http://www.popehat.com/2012/11/15/twitter-and-true-threats/

Two elements must be met for a statement to constitute an offense under 18 U.S.C. § 879(a)(3): objective and subjective.
The first is that the statement would be understood by people hearing or reading it in context as a serious expression of an
intent to kill or injure a major candidate for President. See Gordon, 974 F.2d at 1117. The second is that the defendant intended that the statement be understood as a threat. Id.

Most of these tweets wouldn't be covered. Back when Bush was president, liberals were outraged when the Secret Service investigated kids for posting blustery talk on their LiveJournals about Bush. I would hope they could apply the same standards here.

Yes, it is completely spineless to not confront every racist and idiot out there. I will hold every single person accountable for every single thing they say on every single viewpoint imaginable. Then, I will get angry and tell them they are wrong! This might take a while. I hope you join me. We can do this.

No no it's much better to pretend what they're saying is totally ok and will disappear by itself if you ignore it. It's so mature and brave, too.

Racism is bad , preople that use it in order to expres their angry are wrong specially if it is done on facebook or tweets.

I just hope is a very small minoritie doing those racists coments in the internet.

Wow, that guy at the top of the tumblr page now. Why did Obama's great grand daddy cross the road? Really?

You guys sure you want to write these people off as simply "misguided"?

Just amazing. Some of these kids parents have a lot to answer for. 'Nigger' is probably a word used every day in their homes. I mean this chick just throws it out causally.

tumblr_mdk670mtq31ra1vroqu.png

That's some cognitive dissonance right there. "Vote for Obama for free shit" vs "My dad gives me free money just because!"

Holy shit. But it's hardly her fault that her parents raised her as an idiot. It is however, her fault if she remains an idiot throughout her life.

No no it's much better to pretend what they're saying is totally ok and will disappear by itself if you ignore it. It's so mature and brave, too.

Because somewhere in my post I said that what they are saying is ok. How mature of you to add that in there.

I didn't say said anything about defending them. Niether did I suggest that there is any sort of suppression going on. I'm questioning how it's going to benefit anyone other than the self-righteous attention seekers re-posting it or the viewers getting entertainment out of harassing people they don't like.

A lesson in stupidity on so many levels. Not only saying stupid ass shit, but also saying it in places with direct links to personal names and information. I want to feel bad, as kids don't realize how things affect the rest of their life... But those twitter feeds, Goddam. Blame the parents... If I saw my kids feeds looking like that asses would be whooped

Almost all my friends praise Hitler for what he did to the Jews. The saddest part is that I once was like them.

Little by little though, they're starting to come to their senses. Being raised within a community with certain obtuse worldviews can do that to a person.

I'm... really OK with this, actually.

If all of this is really public, the tumblr does nothing more than giving them a wider audience. Even racists can have their 15 minutes of glory !

I am fine with this.

It's interesting to see some of the follow up twitter posts of some of these people. Not only are they fully embracing the fact they are racist dipshits, they are proud of it.

Because somewhere in my post I said that what they are saying is ok. How mature of you to add that in there.

What are you saying then? You seem to reject any measure of reprimanding these kids and you also seem to write it off as "kids will be kids". If my conclusions drawn are off base please correct me

The amplification of free speech is in itself free speech. Suppressing it on the other hand, would be problematic. That said, I think the only problem here is exposing minors and if it wasn't for the fact that many of their parents are racists, it would be more appropriate to snitch on them to their folks.

Awesome, I totally never knew he got this level of hate too. Thanks for showing me that there are god damned idiots everywhere.

A general rule of thumb I have found to be true is people are people and there are equivalents to be found on all sides of major issues.

Honestly in all of this I think it's just immaturity and stupid people lashing out emotionally. The internet's relative anonymity and not having to look people in the eye when you say this crap results in what we see here.

I mean, are you actually going to go and track down 10 year old Facebook posts when deciding on a babysitter? What sort of positions would honestly come under such scrutiny?

Of course not. While I do scrutinize a babysitter much more than I would say... a mechanic, I'm not going to run a government style background check on them. However, if I knew that when they were 16 or 17 they were espousing horrible racist positions then I'd certainly not hire them, or even fire them if they were already working for me.

What are you saying then? You seem to reject any measure of reprimanding these kids and you also seem to write it off as "kids will be kids". If my conclusions drawn are off base please correct me

You don't reprimand kids by saying that, "Now kids, what you say now will effect your job prospects 20 years from now." That does nothing. They don't get it.

All your doing is labeling immature teenagers as racists their entire lives.

What punishment should they get? I don't know. Maybe being an ignorant person is punishment enough in my opinion. They get to miss out on meeting new people, experiencing different cultures, etc. But some people want an immediate punishment, which is short-sighted and will do more harm than good.

Reading this shit makes me angry as hell... and I'm white. I think I would be shaking with rage if I was black and went through a couple of pages of this trash.

I'm not a racist you fucking nigger.
my-brain-is-full-of-fuck.jpg

How do you even respond to that kind of cognitive dissonance?

I am fine with this.

Yeah, the two I've looked at randomly were really doubling down on the hate (while proclaiming they're totally not racists) - most importantly, they both had some of their friends chime in and supporting/repeating the same bigoted and racist remarks.

It's no wonder they think it's normal in that kind of environment. If this kind of public shaming leads at least some of them to look outside the little racist bubble of their immediate environment and causes them to reflect on themselves and their behaviour, that's good enough.

Oh wait. No, them being racist is punishment enough apparently.

No, we should threaten them with a consequence that has no meaning to them currently. That will do it. Then, when they get older, go to college and meet new people, potentially change their views on life and a myriad of other things, graduate and try to enter the workforce, THEN BOOM, lets get them for that online posting they made when they were 15! THAT will solve this whole racism issue.

So your option is what? Wait and hope they grow out of it? Say "Aw shucks, I don't know but hey, rednecks gonna redneck" and do nothing?

Yeah, that doesn't work.

Says a lot about a person when they're more concerned about reposts of already public comments than said comments declaring that black people literally don't have a right to exist.

So apparently if I want to ruin someone's life, all I have to do is create a twitter account under their name, post for a few months to try to throw people off the trail, then post some dumb shit and get it posted to one of these tumblrs. Good to know.

If I had the answer to cure racism, I would have surely said it by now. I can tell you what doesn't work though, and that's getting mad over something a child said and then trying to potentially destroy their future in our society.

But hey, keep on keepin on.

Interesting point. I guess we are still in uncharted waters in regards to a lot of the potential consequences of social networking.

Saying that, I'm on the "name and shame" side of this debate. This is no different to something like Lamebook. It's public material and anyone who is willing to comment in public should expect those comments to be possibly scrutinized in a public manner. We have all seen enough accidental internet celebrities pop up over the years to know to watch what you do/say on the internet, lest you be exposed to the entire world for what you are. If these people are A) Racist arseholes and B) stupid enough to expose themselves as such... then fuck 'em.

Jangocube gonna Jango.

it isn't worth it, fellas.

Yea, I am tired of this bullshit of growing conscience when the people these racists most likely surround themselves with are of similar mindset.

Some of these individuals may grow out of it as they mature but taking it on faith that this ill will be cured if you wait it out could cost people who aren't white and christian a lot more when and if these racists pricks become employers or are put in position of power (say police).

Yea, ignoring problems or brushing them aside hoping the issue will fix itself because they don't affect you directly shows a certain predilection towards apathy.

^^

Seriously, WTF did Obama actually do to these people's lives in a practical sense for them to actively encourage a fucking assassination upon him?

Yes Amibguous Cad, all you have to do to ruin someones life is dedicate months to impersonating them. That's all.
