Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
This is what? Hellraiser 11? 12?

Just to pre-empt any antiwoke warriors from the Sandman thread, who just have to come into this one to get their panties in a bunch about this too, this is how Barker describes Pinhead in the novella:

“Its voice was light and breathy-the voice of an excited girl. Every inch of its head had been tattooed with an intricate grid, and at every intersection of horizontal and vertical axes a jeweled pin driven through to the bone."

Jury’s out on this. Barker’s involvement is encouraging, but he’s not the creative force he once was.

Also, side note, I used to attend a lot of horror conventions in my younger years, and Doug Bradley was always unfailingly courteous and kind to everyone.

Clive Barker is a wee bit of a prick, to be honest.

Last few Hellraiser’s were pretty bad. However, 1 and 2 are some of the best horror flicks of all time, imo.
You must have some pretty low standards then. Hellraiser 1 has some downright awful acting and is nothing more than a glorified gore-fest. The second movie is much more interesting, with Leviathan and the Cenobite world being cool places for the viewer to see.

The one opportunity to cast a non model looking woman and they just can't help themselves. Edit: Oh wait...

Have you actually seen Hellraiser? Because while it is rough around the edges these days (I'm assuming you probably weren't around for it when it came out) to describe it as a glorified gore fest is totally inaccurate. It has some extremely good themes, concepts and ideas, backed up by a terrific performance from Bradley, and a complex story about personal relationships, sexuality, and desire. Most horror films don't get anywhere near close to dealing with such subject matters.

I think I see you bitch more about woke/not woke than actual anti-woke folks around here.

I’ve never seen any of these movies. Still worth it today? It’s supposed to be horror and I understand that the first movies are really old, but are they actually scary or just weird because of Pinhead?

Days like these...

Have a Blessed Day

Not scary just gory haven't watched them in forever don't know how they hold up. I liked them back in the day.

We have such shite to show you.

Nothing to look forward to here. But I have to say going through the whole filmography especially the movies that weren't even written to be Hellraiser ones was a good time.

Only 1 and 2. Not necessarily scary by todays standards, but they are wicked and demonic af, if that makes sense. Mandatory for any horror fan. Hellraiser 2 is an all timer for me. It’s probably my favorite horror movie of all time, and I only saw Hellrasier 1 and 2 for the first time like 6 or 7 years ago. So yeah, totally worth it.

Not feeling it, but not discounting it before I've seen some footage. I don't understand the purpose of this one, at all. Even if Clive Barker is involved. I think he just wants to work on another Hellraiser and make it 'good' before he passes. I know it took ages for fucking scarlet gospels to finally materialize and release, and I know he's been trying to make another Hellraiser forever.

I'll never forget the time I saw Hellraiser 2 as a teen. I was stoned out of my mind, my entire family was away, in the middle of the night, and a major earthquake hit.

I'm not religious now but there's zero chance that I'm ever watching that again. I was calling my friends' houses at 3am just to make sure it wasn't some damned gateway opening.

Ehhh, she looks ok. The flayed skin doesn't look grotesque enough. I was a fan of Bradley's super-pale look as well. Bummed that that's missing here.

I'm still super excited for this though. Hellraiser is an awesome concept and deserves to be a stand-out horror franchise.

What a fail that book was. Reading about the rape of a blind woman. The book went nowhere and I loved his earlier works. Some of my favourites. (Not that book, was obviously not his own work).

He has a co-author due to his health. Which is well documented, bad. He hasn't written anything good in a long time.

Big Hellraiser fan here and it's great to see things getting in motion for another entry, but I gotta admit, it was quite awkward seeing another person other than Bradley as Pinhead. Still got mad love for this franchise even if I haven't bothered with the latest ones. 1-4 are my favorites but I'm excited as hell for this one.

I recommend the newer Nightbreed in that case. Saw the uncovered footage in a cinema here, was janky VHS, Really bad. Producer did the screening, spoke before and after.

Got a proper look after he talked about (Barker) the original cut being locked in the vaults for decades.

Different film. If you've read the book, it's 101 perfect. Newer version is the real deal, studio even released it after the shitty VHS took traction.

Dude who brought it to light found it in a box in his house. According to him, company jumped on the money.

I don’t think his physical or mental health has been great for a long time, unfortunately. The Clive Barker who wrote Hellbound Heart wouldn‘t have done anything as asinine or blunt as Scarlet Gospels. The guy was a creative genius for many years, but I think he burned himself out quite some time ago. That’s why my confidence levels for this movie aren’t all that high.
