Pinhead has has nothing on this.....

https://techcrunch.com/2022/09/13/loab-ai-generated-horror/

I won't post the pictures here because they are that horrific and disturbing to me. They're not photographed but they are truly terrifying and something I really don't want to see again other than provide a link.

Sorry, what is the problem here? It’s a bunch of images of an old woman, in different AI created imagery. Some of its a bit weird and gory, but nothing that horrific. What am I missing?

Have you actually seen Hellraiser? Because while it is rough around the edges these days (I'm assuming you probably weren't around for it when it came out) to describe it as a glorified gore fest is totally inaccurate. It has some extremely good themes, concepts and ideas, backed up by a terrific performance from Bradley, and a complex story about personal relationships, sexuality, and desire. Most horror films don't get anywhere near close to dealing with such subject matters.
You're right Funk, I wasn't around for it when it came out, more specifically I wasn't born. But having watched it much later on I wasn't impressed by it on the whole. It's the epitome of schlocky and trying to be something more deep and meaningful, when reality it's cheesy. My favourite scene has to be where the main heroine after having seen her father butchered and miraculously condemned the Cenobites via the Lament Configuration comes up to a door and does a small laugh when there's nothing behind it. Just awful acting, I couldn't help but crack up at the final scene where the camera moves towards her representing a winged demon.
I'll never forget the time I saw Hellraiser 2 as a teen. I was stoned out of my mind, my entire family was away, in the middle of the night, and a major earthquake hit.
Damn, that must have been some strong shit. Got any left?
God, you are the worst

Used to see the posters as a child going to the video shop. (Obviously that was a no).

Later read all his books, collected the comics when old enough.

It goes deeper and has such sights to show you. The tagline was real for the time. (Unfortunately, only the 2nd was decent.)

Anyone whining about it is a child of a different time and never tried. ;)

Out of all the horror franchises, Hellraiser is probably the worst. At least some of the Nightmare sequels are fun. The same with Friday the 13th.
Meh, the execution left much to be desired but the premise of the series is one of the most interesting from a dramatic/thematic perspective. It deserves another shot and I hope they do it justice with this series

You're talking straight out of your ass Ionian. We're not referring to the promotional campaign or even the books (thought I've heard extremely good things about 'Books of Blood'), we're talking about the first movie and there's a reason it stinks on the review aggregate sites. I actually found the second movie somewhat interesting and scary, especially when they enter the Cenobite realm with that bigass maze.

I know you're joking and all, but just so we're clear since it always kinda bugs me, this is what Buddha actually suppose to look like in his original Indian look.

the chubby/fat buddha thing is more of a Chinese version of it. and more importantly, it's not even the really Buddha. that's usually a representation of Maitreya or Metteyya, a successor of Buddha.

I was anticipating somebody bringing this at me, but let's look at the facts. I recommend Metacritic over Rottentomatoes as they're more critical with their scoring. Even though the audience ratings are often dogshit, I'd go with the professional scores. Sitting at 56, I would say that's more realistic.

I feel sometimes movies deserve a modest supplement to their score for artistic risks taken and new stuff tried, and Hellraiser is certainly one of those movies that tried to break new ground. IDK if the design for the cenobites was already written into Barker's story in the book but it is so iconic you don't forget that even if you see it once on a poster. The whole concept of the story also stays with you longer than many higher-scoring but less memorable 'proper' movies.

Finally someone else.

I agree with this part of your statement. The introduction of the Cenobites and Pinhead himself was absolutely awesome. "You opened the box, we came!!!"

Because, because there were never women in lead rolls ever in horror, drama, love, romance, etc, films, like ever.

Current year.
Change for change sake. Might as well have a female luke sky...... o wait look how that turned out.

looking forward to the mary poppins remake with a bloke in the lead role.

No issues with a woman in a lead role you twonk just dont understand the change other than women are scary as fuck.

Actually, she’s a trans woman… which, whether anyone likes it or not, is very fitting with the androgynous depiction of Pinhead from the book. She won’t be better than Bradley, but she’s still arguably closer to the source material.
Not read the book. Is the story the same or similar to the original film? It's showing its age now but still decent, i rewatched it not so long ago and would like to see a remake of that.

Pretty similar. A few differences, but the story is essentially the same. Well worth a read.

Based off the trailer, this looks to be a completely original story not based on the book. The original film was very close to the book's story, with some small changes here and there. The author directed the first movie and is helping on this new one as well.

Pinhead was way less androgynous in the original film than in the book though. Pinhead's look in this new movie is almost exactly how the book described it.

One of the cooler/more interesting aspects of the original lore, that sets it apart from most other more banal horror/slasher stuff, is that (and I love this quote) "it is not hands that summon us, it is desire"

Looks nothing like the original story, plus pinheads a woman because?

it's whatever it wants to be
