Help, I can't stop breaking things! (need JP GameCube error message translated)

It's popped on screen twice across the past two days while I've been playing Drill Land. Only way to make it go away is to turn the system off. Please help :(

Take a step back.. and

Don't Touch ANYTHING

there.. you should be safe... for now :lol

In a similar story, my friend has a similar touch, he has screwed up his computer hardware 3 times already.. in 2 years. Perhaps some people are more conductive to electricity?

Is there ANY other message then read error even in the cube?

Good question, i've not heard of any.
I don't see why it would be any differnt in English.

:(

Just because my iPod, PC, cell phone, laptop and now GameCube have all broken down this week...

It's telling you that it couldn't read the disc and to check your manual for service instructions. Basically, a disc read error... Cube Style.

That's.. seriously really creepy.

So, bascially, I need to buy a new GameCube then? I doubt Nintendo would repair this one, seeing as it's modded, not to mention well past its initial warranty.

Sadly, yes. Do other games eventually do the same thing?

I really feel for you. All of those devices going down in one week? That's just straight up bad luck... :(

It happened to me occasionally, too, on my launch GC. I think at this point, you might as well get a new one. Or wait for a Revolution, but that would take too long.

No you don't. pot tweak your laser instead of buying a new GC. That would do it.

Here is a guide how to do it

I heard that it's not difficult.

If your value is around 300-400 or higher, you should set it lower. I would first try 300 or 250 and go lower after that.

I honestly couldn't tell you, Drill Land's the only game I've put substantial time into this week.

My only beef with waiting for the Revolution, well, apart from the time delay, is that I have no gurantee that my import games will work on an US Rev.

edit: Oooh, laser tweaking. Sounds fun. Thanks.

edit2: the site the guide links to for obtaining a value is kinda confusing.

Actually, I didn't know about that...

Tweaking a laser isn't a big deal in most cases. That's what I've done for many a PS2 (when people receive disc read errors). If you are encountering the same kind of thing, you could be good to go. The GC hardware is easier to work with too.

well I haven't tried it myself, but from I heard is that Gamecubes has the laser set to a high ohm from the start. Usually around 400. If you're going to tweak you laser, you should always set it lower. When you measured your ohm on your GC, (To perform the pot tweak you need a multimeter to measure the resistance offered by the pot.)

try lowering it with 50 ohm each time until your disc works.

400 - 350 - 300 - 250 etc.

I don't know why you'd be having all these problems with Bumbles around. The one next to my computer absorbs all technical mishap into his fur and releases it harmlessy out of his toothy articulated mouth. It works the same as radiation-absorbing cell phone charms in Japan -- Magic!

I'd blame sailor boy Bibendum in the middle for negating the effects. He's the one roasting your cube I think, since he is evil. You can't argue with well thought out science.
