HI2U GAF,

So I'm posting this from my new PC that I just put together. YAY. :D I don't know anybody who can help though so any info here is saving me a lot of time and money.

However, I think I messed up a few parts. :(

- I can't install the HD! I put in the disk but it asked for a model number which I don't have (unless I take out the disk...), and after 30 mintues of messing around it just doesn't work. >_>

- Motherboard: I have no idea what I needed to isntall from all the disks I had. I figure stuff like norton is not needed but I just guessed... o_O

- DVD/RW: I lost the installation disk. Or I think I did. I have dozesn of disks here and the only ones related to my drive are the blank ones and the nero/other programs stuff. I can't find anything on lite-on's site. What to do here? *sob*

- Sound/Vid cards installed perfectly. So that's one good thing.

- Everything is bigger. Program icons at the bottom, text in firefox/IE, etc... what... my head. @_@

(in firefox, decreasing the text size will make it way too small and blurry. *sigh*)

- I changed the mointor color to 32 bit but it was on 16.. that's fine right? My last pc had 16 and it was less powerful than this awesome one.

- A LOT of cds have not been installed. There is so much junk. Do you guys just ignore those? I already installed adobe reader TWICE, 4.0 and 5.1 lol.

- windows (xp pro) says it can't log me in after entering in my account username, but I click ok and it just starts up... huh.

- can anyone recommend a chat program other than mirc?

And yeah if 3 or 4 threads are too much for my PC problems are too much, lock this I guess. =\

One more thing, what the hell is this?

wtf.bmp

Edit: dammit it's too small.. let me try to do something about it.

bah forget it. I don't have microsoft picture on this pc yet and that's the only way I know how to crop it. I'll type the message...

After a file is being secured by the SecureDOC program, it will be hard for anybody to break the code, so please first try to use this program to test first on some ordinary files before using it on your important files.

Edit

Ok the CPU temp is 38 and system is 33. What the hell? Isn't that too much? I mean I just started this thing.

you dont need a disk to install the hard drive. are you adding it to an existing hard drive in the sytem? what model is it?

- Motherboard: I have no idea what I needed to isntall from all the disks I had. I figure stuff like norton is not needed but I just guessed... o_O

dont necessarily need the disks. what model is it.

again, you dont need disks to install the hardware. it may come wit some burning software you would need though.

- Everything is bigger. Program icons at the bottom, text in firefox/IE, etc... what... my head. @_@

you need to change your resolution in display properties

that's fine

ignore

- windows (xp pro) says it can't log me in after entering in my account username, but I click ok and it just starts up... huh.

try messing with the login/logoff settings in the control panel

dont know about securedoc

those temperatures are well within the norm

it's the only hard drive. Model:

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=22-148-035&depa=0

dont necessarily need the disks. what model is it.

This one: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=13-130-487&depa=0

Whew. o_o;

you need to change your resolution in display properties

Is there a 'perfect' or 'recommended' resolution depedning on your card/monitor? 1024x768 is the biggest i can go without everything going crazy, and it's a little smaller from what I'm used to but I can handle it since anything bigger than 800x600 (what it was) but smaller than 1024x768 seems to 'misplace' the screen; about half an inch or so is 'eaten' by the left side. the start icons are like in half lol.

what happens when you stick the hard drive in? are you using a different computer to post this? You probably need to format the hard drive, which is taken care of in the Windows XP installation process.

for the MSI Nforce4 motherboard, you can get the latest nForce drivers at www.nvidia.com and other drivers at msi.com

what monitor do you have? you should be able to adjust the settings.. if the picture is getting chopped off perhaps there are some buttons on the monitor to adjust it correclty

It's already in the PC and was formatted when installing Windows. yeah, I went back to my old pc but I made the topic with the new one. It's working though and I'm only not using it because I still need to move my files.

It's a Gateway. Actually the 1024x768 resolution is the same as my old pc, everything seemed smaller because there wasn't any clutter so I'm fine regarding resolution.

Just one last thing I need to make sure of, I need to update my drivers constantly for all of these part right?

- motherboard
- video/sound card
- hard drive
- dvd-rw drive

It's the last two that I'm just worried about. They're working fine I think but maybe they could work better.

Anyway thanks again for your help.

hard drive and dvd drivers dont really do much.. i dont really recommend installing them

actually the hard drive speed will probably get better once u install the motherboard drivers. having up to date video card drivers should help too

lol I just checked the new egg pics of my dvd-rw drive and other than blank disks the power dvd and nero software are the only things packaged. I guess I didn't lose anything then. :lol

I feel so stupid.
