HELP NEEDED: My Xbox just ate a CD

Now this has to be the weirdest thing I've encountered in a while. I lent my cousin (who lives upstairs) my Xbox so she could play Outrun 2 and Crinsom Skies. So I bring it to her place, hook it up and put Outrun 2 in the disc drive (atleast I think I put it) everything works fine. Later she calls me and says she can't open the disc drive, I come upstairs, she's still playing Outrun 2 and I press the button to take out the drive, and it comes out WITHOUT the Outrun 2 cd. I'm like "hahah, funny, where's the disc?" She says she doesn't know.

So I put the disc drive back and Outrun 2 starts playing again. What the fuck? I take out the disc drive, still no disc, and I decide to put in Crinsom Skies just to see what would happen. Well the Xbox makes a weird sound and doesn't want to play any games.

From then on, I take out the Crinsom Skies CD and again, Outrun 2 starts playing.

I didn't know The xbox could eat cds. Anyone know what the hell happened? There's a compartment in the console that takes the cds?

:lol owned.

Ohh shit. This happened to someone else a few years back with morrowind. The disc is stuck in the drive. I think you have to return the xbox for repair or open up the disc drive. Dunno if opening the disc drive is anything to recommend.

My ass, a dreamcast would have never ate a cd. Give me top-loading trays any day of the fucking week.

Anyway, I just called and they want 120$ + shipping to repair it so I'm gonna say screw that.

Anyone got a site that explains how to open this thing up?

This happened a year ago with someone else and his copy of Phantom Crash.

What can I say...Xbox's are coming to life and demand sustenance. Be thankful that yours had good taste in software...could have been pulse racer.

And while you're opening it, you might as well boost its ability to entertain... some silicon steroid ya heard? *winknudgekoffnudge*

I got something that is probably a really simple explanation for this. There was probably some sticky stuff on top of your Outrun disc. When you close the Xbox, there's something going down on the disc to make it stable when it spins. The sticky stuff probably has got your Outrun disc stick on that thing. When you open the drive, it goes up, so the disc follows. That why you don't see the disc coming out, it still is glued to the thing that comes down on the disc.

I opened the motherfucker up and got my disc back. It seems the disc was stucked to the top of the drive because it used to have a sticker on it since I bought it at a rental store and I peeled off the sticker but it left a sticky residue. I cleaned the disc and everything is fine now.

120$ my ass

EDIT: You were precisely right Hellraizah

Creepy, mine did it with Panzer Dragoon. I opened the tray and it was not there!
Sega games.. hmm...

Anyway, I ended up replacing the drive cause it put a nice gash in the game once I got it out, and must have scratched the laser cause it would not read anything.
