I just installed the new Corsair RAM that I ordered a few days ago, and aside from the first attempt which gave me the motherboard beeps that meant I hadn't seated them right, I have one small problem now that they're in correctly. I turned on my computer, and it started just fine this time, except that the display is completely screwed up. It was noticeable on both the POST stuff, then when Windows actually started up. Everything is running great apart from this crap. It looks like there are 4 checkerboard columns going vertically down my display, as well as the whole screen shimmering a little. Did I probably just knock something loose internally, or do I have a bigger problem?

Ok, after reopening the case, wiggling everything around a bit, putting it back together, and starting back up, everything -looks- fine...for now. Still, a disturbing experience after initially thinking I had done everything to the best of my abilities. Any idea what I might have done?

If it appears again... just switch the ram around a bit... I had a similar problem a while back and it's odd that that did the trick.

A quick question: What are some good testing applications specifically for RAM?

I don't want something that's going to super-stress my CPU, just make sure that the RAM isn't going to make too many errors. A few hours after those first posts, it seems my PC didn't crash, although that's not much of a test as all I'm running is my basic web apps and Azureus. I'm kind of wondering if it would be a good idea to put one of my old sticks back in, as right now I've got 2 of 3 slots filled with 512MB each. Adding in one of my old ones would make 1280MB total, but they're different brands, and might not cooperate
