Hey, I like Lost In Blue!

DAMNIT. I spent A WEEK (game time, of course) trying to trap animals and the like so I could build the bed so the
raft
would become available. Finally found out where I needed to be. Both my characters are starving right now, so first thing tomorrow will be constructing a new fishing rod and getting some fish. BUT NOW I CAN FINALLY ADVANCE FURTHER.

Oh, I also got stuck where all the bamboo is. She almost died. I had to wait 12 hours until the tide was low enough for me to go back.

23 days in.

That happened to me too (getting trapped by the tide) but she had water and firewood, so she managed to survive until I got back.

Is the music good?

I saw that 6-minute trailer of this game when it was shown. What caught me most was the music when the camera zoomed out to show a birds-eye view of the island from far away. I thought it was pretty good.

Also, near the end of the trailer, it shows the main character (Keith?) walking up the steps of some dark brown rock of some sorts. It looks like a temple or something. Could the storyline ramp up or something? I think Konami could have added some cool secrets in these places in the game, not unlike the show Lost.

Music is sparse but fits the game really well. The overworld music from the trailer is in the game, with a couple of other tunes in the cave and when it turns dark.

Just got to the
jungle and the plains
. Day long hike with Skye to get there too. Worth it to make the
tree vine to make the fishing rod
. Tonight we eat like kings! :D

little help. i keep getting stuck.

what time of the day is the tide low enough to cross to the bamboo place? how long do you have to get back b4 it goes up again?

I'm not too sure if there's a specific time that the tide goes up or down. But what I normally do is go there as soon as the day begins and try to cross the tide. Usually I just have to wait a little before it becomes accessible. Of course I need to go through just as it becomes so, so I can have enough time to collect what I need a get back.

Basically, I had enough time to get there and back if I never stopped running and picked up things quickly.

I think low tide is around 9 to 10 in my game anyways, I ran through and picked up all the bamboo stems and had time to run back before high tide trapped me again. Otherwise you're stuck there for 12 hours.

Furniture making got a lot easier and funner when I realized what to do. Basically you can use the whole screen (not just the little window) to draw the symbols that are shown. Draw them right before the icon falls down and it'll work like a charm!

I need a hand.

I'm in the ruins right now, in the 8th or 9th room. Four wooden crates surround a single blue stone, and there are moveable stones elsewhere surrounding the crates.

Skye has enough food and water to last another night or so (can't say the same about Keith), but I'm pretty sure this is the end of it. Driving me crazy. Definitely a low point in the game.

Has anyone made it past the
volcanic lake
over to the
temple entrance
with the raft?? (man, it took so many logs to make that damn raft.....)

There seems to be some 'switches' for two people, also a
hot spring
for your characters to take a rest in : ]
I quickly ran back to the cave from it all, since I had spent days building the raft and setting traps ---- If anyone has made it over there, what materials are good to take?? It's such a long hike.

I also got stuck out at the Bamboo/Scallops area on high-tide ---- But things were okay, I've built the larger shelf and have been stocking it with food ---- Also, found another bottle, so the water-tin stays pretty full ........... Just keep that skank busy with makin' ropes and baskets and you're good to go.

The game is still kickin much ass, and offering tons of new shit everytime I play ----- really wonder what the reviewers were smokin' since SurvivalKids got so many great reviews and it's a much more fumbly non-intuative game.

I haven't gotten to the ruins yet, I've heard about what happens there but haven't found anyone who's made it all the way through them.

Right now, I've finally figured out about the mushrooms in my game. It seems that different colored mushrooms do different things and there's one color in particular that keeps your stamina steady for a short while. In my game it is the yellow mushroom, but I hear that the colors are randomly chosen for different games. It's definately a good thing to have though.

I made large traps.. but I never find anything in them.. haven't found the lake yet either.. getting a little frustrated, but I still like the survival aspects of the game. (Wilderness survival was my favorite subject in scouting, so I guess I'm kinda pre-disposed to like it)

I honestly don't know if this works with the large traps, but one thing I do is go around the plains looking for a grazing animal, then when he runs off, place the large trap in the place where he was just grazing. I did that with a goat (the one I couldn't domesticate) and a deer and it worked, though I won't claim this as some sort of solid plan.

To get to the lake, you have to head through the swamp in the jungle. Use the map. It's the big dark area. Head around the side to the right and then north. Climb over the log (there should be some fern around there). Use the map and head for the next log. Head all the way to the right and north. Then you'll be in the lake area.

ahh ok.. so I have to cross the swamp. I just hadn't found the way around the swamp yet I don't guess. Thanks

Well there is a way around, which you'll need to know. Make good use of your map and explore. :)

I don't even have this game but it was kinda fun reading through this thread anyways. Maybe I should get it after I'm bored with Castlevania.

Finally finished that final stupid block room. I should spend the next few days trying to get food for my next trip out..

Hmm, I'm still building my raft, though I think I've gotten enough logs to get the job done. I wan't to see just what's across the lake myself and why it gets hard. I'm always amazed at the new kinds of critters I can find on the ground, first it was a hermit crab, then a coconut crab, and I just saw a snake. Its cool. :)

I'm still waiting for my goat though. :(

I just bought Lost in Blue thanks to the positive impressions in here. Unfortunately the fuckers at EB gave me an already-opened "gut," which sorta bothered me to begin with, but I figured it was no big deal. I slogged my way home (through an especially nasty Seattle downpour) and spent 10 minutes Goo-Goneing the sticker before opening the case. When I did, I found that the EB asshole had given me a Trace Memory cart.

I'm looking forward to trying to convince the moron that he did in fact give me the wrong game (somehow I can't see this going smoothly), after which I'll hopefully, finally, be able to check out Lost in Blue. :(

Do you have a receipt? I think it would go a long way of proving your case showing them that you paid for Lost In Blue, but have a Trace Memory game cartridge. And if they don't believe you, just tell them to play the game themselves.

I got the gutted one at my EB too, but I picked up day of release, so it was lacking stickers aside from the price. Apparently they only got 2-3 copies of the game.

me and my gf both got gutted copies .... and at different EB's ----- seems like places only got like one game outside of their pre-orders......

I was walking home tonight, from the corner shop --- and there were some sticks on the sidewalk - I was like "Damn, I have somewhat of a free hand - I should get these to the cave for the firewood stock!" :lol

This game can mess with your head.... I do agree it has some of Pikmin's spirit ----- 15% doing and 85% preparing for what you will be doing....

I gave her my water bottle once when she was thirsty. How the hell do I get it back from her?

As for availability, my local Best Buy had about 10.

Just ask her to cook, and x to switch to her menu and take back the water bottle.

Yeah I got a gutted copy too, only because EB was the only place that had it. The guy gives me the theft purposes excuse naturally, I gave him a look and he looked really guilty. :lol

Got the game, and am loving it, can't seem to build anything at all. Is there a specific place you should make the motions indicated by the falling blocks?

Just picked up the game at Gamecrazy - much better than the reviews give it credit for. I decided to pick it up because I had been looking forward to a game of this type for a while.

once you get past the first few days it really starts to take shape.

There's also a quicksave which seems to be seperate from the regular save files. But I'm not exactly certain how it works out.

you should be moving thet stylus in that blue/black square area to the right of keith when you're building stuff. I think you need to move the stylus so that it covers most of that area when making the motions indicated by the falling blocks.

You can use the whole screen to make the motions that's indicated by the blocks. Do your symbol when the blocks start falling and finish before they hit the ground.

Hmm on a side note, does anyone know how to
milk the domesticated goat? It's just standing in front of the cave, munching on grass..

WTF!!

I'm SO fucking pissed right now. I had NO trouble with carpentry
building the first two bed variations.
I'd have a few misses, but both were successes on my first try. Now when I'm trying to build
Bed Version 3
I can't get ANY of the motions to work. I'VE LITERALLY TRIED IT 25 TIMES NOW!

Not only do I end up failing, I'll get credit for ZERO of the motions... it's so damn maddening. The game is like "draw a horizontal line!" so I do... no credit. Vertical, no credit.

I don't understand what (if anything) I'm doing different from the first two times, when it went fine :(

Man, the end of the game is really pissing me off.

At the enemy base, with the uniform, but don't know what to do next.

I leave all kinds of firewood for the stupid bitch and she still lets the fire go out. Then when I come back she says "I'm too cold to do anything..." Yeah, I wonder why that is.

Well I beat the game last night. Opened up Girl's Story and I played it for 19 days. Keith's out in the grasslands hunting animals.

Just had my first run at the ruins, wow those blocks are a pain! :lol I didn't have the meat dryer this time so I have to build it and go through with some supplies next time. I must have put at least 12 to 14 hours in already, just goofing off trapping and fishing. Definitely living up to my expectations so far.

Ok, I need some help.

I got through the cave maze with the gas, into the ruins, and then I got stuck. I made it into the room where the switch raises and lowers the water level, and now I don't know what to do. I raised it and lowered it a few times, but I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to DO in there. I tried jumping over to the wooden crates, and I couldn't get it to work.

If I went back there I'm confident I could figure it out, but I'd rather just have someone TELL me what I'm supposed to do beforehand, so I don't make a trip that far out and almost starve Skye for no reason.

move the wooden crates so that when you hit the switch, you can jump from one crate to the other. The stone blocks won't float so you have to position the wood crates to form a path so that you can jump across when the water is high. Just a warning though, you probably won't finish the puzzles on your first try because there are I believe 10 rooms of puzzles. The last few are seriously hard. So everytime you finish one puzzle and get to the other side, step on the switch and lock it in place. If you or Skye are running low on food, just jump into each room's water channel and it'll transport you back to the outside of the temple in the plain. So stock up on supplies before you go in, and expect a couple of tries before you get through.

Thanks for the advice. Why I got stuck in there though is because I couldn't find an area to get down to the lower level to move the crates in the first place. I assumed the puzzle was something like that, but I can only handle so many of Keith's "arm-swinging-almost-falling-off-a-ledge" animations before I get frustrated and go back to Castlevania :)

Not gonna read most of this thread so I can avoid spoilers, but I am digging this game so far. I must admit the closest game I can compare this to is Oregon Trail way back when I was in grade school, but its a good comparison!

I'm about 5 days in, and I've stopped playing in order to focus on CV. But I'm digging it hardcore so far!

Do you recommend the game when it's released here in Europe?
Mejilan you can answer too. :)

Has anyone experienced problems with the autosave at the end of day feature? I can only get my game to save with the Quicksave, which isn't so bad except when I forget to do it :/

I haven't put enough time in it to recommend it to anyone. Right now, my impression on the game is half based on its spiritual predecessor, the GB game known as Survivial Kids, which I thoroughly loved.

I haven't played Lost in Blue enough to see if it actually lives up to the earlier game.
