So Grubb has gone from not even knowing how close Starfield is to release a few weeks ago to knowing the current legal workings of Microsoft's developer contracting

If signed letter of intents meant anything, Bischoff would have ended up buying WCW, and the last 20 years wouldn't have been total shit.
 
Hmmm, wasn't the last time a letter of intent was made a public deal when Sony agreed to cooperate with MS regarding shared technologies?

Sony renewed the Sunset Overdrive trademark, Insomniac has been growing, is selling better than they ever did and Sony gives them creative freedom.

Kojima just announced a PS5 game for Sony after releasing a profitable and well reviewed game, Sony is making a MGS movie and Kojima in addition to make games wants to make a manga, a mecha anime or a movie, and Sony can give him that. In addition to blank checks for weird AAA or small games with full creative freedom. As Sony is doing with other 3 new game studios headed by key people from other top AAA IPs.

Nothing to regret. In fact, Kojima is making PS MGS tweets with an image of Hermen Hulst in his mouse pad. It's just Grub mading up stuff again.

This was literally said in my post.

Doesnt matter who pays Kojima to make the next game, as long as it gets made and his vision isnt fucked with. That's one thing Sony is good at, giving devs freedom. Lets hope MS does the same and doesnt force coop on them like they did with Platinum.

How the hell do you miss that despite individually quoting every single line of my post and still manage go on with your tirade. The entire point of my post is that I DONT CARE if its Sony or MS. I couldnt care less.

And Dreams was a 2020 title. Concrete Genie and Days Gone were the only first party titles. DS was third party. Take out DS and it is a very weak year for Sony first party. Only one AAA game from Sony's prestigious first party?? Clearly they needed Kojima to fill in that year and Andrew House knew that when he signed up for an exclusive deal. You just cant fill 3-4 AAA first party titles nowadays. You need guys like Kojima to fill in the slow years and he did that admirably winning goty awards left and right. He earned a second game from Sony.

Lastly, pretty much everything here is speculation. The entire thread is based on a venture beat article which is based on speculation from Jeff Grubb. We are assuming that Kojima signing with MS means he hasnt signed a deal with Sony. Again, fair assumption.

Stadia formally debunked to had anything ('anything' includes a pitch) from Kojima. They mentioned to talk with a lot of studios, but doesn't mean it ends on a pitch or even less a project deal. After DS Kojipro made DS PC port and DS Director's Cut, that's all. Kojima said they've been heavily impacted by Covid and couldn't do a lot of stuf.

And even considering that, if we also forget that in addition to games he wants to make a manga, a mechas anime and a movie (something Sony can give him, MS not), then if we forget all that and believe that Sony and Stadia rejected this project it must be a huge, stinky turd. Because Stadia would kill for a Kojima game and Sony greenlighted him a weird AAA postapocalyptical postman walking simulator game.

As mainly an Xbox and Nintendo/Sega fan thru the years, Kojima's games are the sole reason I bought Playstations.
Other games were a bonus sure, but Kojima was the reason.
PS1 for MGS, PS2 for MGS2/ZOE2, PS3 for MGS4, PS4 for DS.
If this is true - looks like Ill be saving some money.
 
Why would Kojima, partner with Sony on a game that relies on the Cloud (like Flight Sim) when Sony has nothing to offer to create those games, they aren't a Cloud provider. Every game that needs the cloud will obviously turn to MS, Google and Amazon. Sony isn't part of the discussion.

So it led to their acquisition by Sony and they are happy. Sony also liked the IP they made.

What are you smoking? Sony has their own cloud gaming service, it's called PS Now, was released before the ones made by MS, Amazon and Google and has a bigger catalog than the other ones. In fact, it's the only cloud gaming service with Kojima games.

Kojima partnered for his next game (Death Stranding Director's Cut) with Sony, because both sides were happy after releasing a profitable and well reviewed AAA game where Sony gave him a blank check a game engine for free and full creative freedom, something not common at all.

And maybe because in the future in addition to games he wants to make anime, a movie (Sony is making the MGS movie) or a manga. And Sony can help him to make them, while MS, Google or Amazon can't.

Look, lets just be real for a second. Why would there be a need for this if either party was ready to move ahead on the project?

I mean generally, you pitch, and then after successful discussion you get a contract to start production. Why would a letter of intent be required? Nothing is likely to get done without funding, and funding requires a signed contract... So even if its true its pretty meaningless.

Kojima has been a multi-platform developer for as long as I can remember. Anyone who considers themselves a genuine fan is well aware of that.

Either this is a silly joke or losers have way too much time on their hands. I hope it's the former.
