High Fidelity television show reboot?

I didn't even know this existed, just saw it in the paper this morning. I used to be a fan of the book when I was younger, and the movie was ok, though I find the whole thing quite a bit cringey these days. Anyway, it's time to reboot something people used to like, so obviously we need some gender swaps or something

With High Fidelity, Hulu's 10-episode, gender-flipped twist on the 1995 book and 2000 film of the same name, Zoe Kravitz steps into John Cusack's shoes as Rob, a love-sick record store owner recounting her past heartbreaks and trying to fix her romantic future.

This version of the story, which stars David H. Holmes (Simon) and Da'Vine Joy Randolph (Cherise) as her closest friends and Kingsley Ben-Adir (Mac), Jake Lacy (Clyde) and Thomas Doherty (Liam) as her former (and current) love interests, is a modern take set in Brooklyn, putting Rob's "analog woman in a digital world" at odds with Instagram and dating app culture as she holds onto her love of the past.

It's hard to think of a bigger downgrade than John Cusack to Zoe freakin Kravitz.

How you can be that untalented with those parents I'll never know.

It's surprisingly a good watch. I teased my wife while she was watching the first episode. After she fell asleep I watched 5 more by myself 🤷🏾‍♂️ .

The original had quite a bit of pretentiousness to it, naval gazing vinyl snobs, I can only imagine this is almost unbearably so now with millenial vinyl enthusiasts. I'd watch an episode but I don't have access to Hulu.

When the movie released my classmates in High-school teased me that was going to be me. My entire life has been audio and buying music. God damn hipsters with the vinyl resurgence hasquadrupled the cost of what was once a great niche hobby.

I will watch the first episode.

High Fidelity is a good, unique flick. It was a bit overplayed by Comedy Central (kind of like Office Space) but it's one of those romantic comedies that will endure.

I mean, Kravitz makes sense for the new series since her mother was (a hotty) in the movie. At the very least it's a nice visual connection.

I've actually been getting more into Hulu recently, thanks to my free subscription via Spotify. With enough recommendations I might try the High Fidelity series out. Kravitz was really chill on that recent episode of Hot Ones. She's cool.
