If haven't well, you don't deserve to criticize rap music...AT ALL! This has been the BEST Hip Hop historical documentary I've seen ....EVER!!!!! Just turn to VH-1. That is all.

if he was on, then i'll catch the inevitable replay.

Guess you'll have to watch the replay then, cuz they went ALL the way back and focused on plenty of early pioneers including Kurtis Blow. Mandatory viewing for all Hip Hop fans!

Is there a rip out?
What's it called anyway?

The only other Hip-Hop documentary I've watched (apart from Tupac's) is Scratch. I never realised that dj's felt rappers took all the glory away from them :lol

I've been watching it. They use a lot of wild style and style wars footage (at least in the first episode). Anyone notice how they tended to focus on sales figures and Def Jam just a little bit too much in the second episode. Fresh Prince got more air time than Kane and Rakim combined.

havent seen it but that sucks...
I did see the Snoop Dogg / Pac episode. I also noticed that MC Lyte is doing the voice over for it's commercials.

I LOVED Scratch. It was such a good documentary, with so many good DJs. And it's true, y'know- rappers do take the glory away from the DJs. The best rappers always rep their DJ, too... Beasties and Run-DMC come to mind.

Oops, on topic. Looks like a good special, thanks for the heads up. :D

You can't compare this to scratch. I have scratch and I love it too but it is not a Hip Hop Doc. It's a DJ/Scratching/Mixing doc. Focusing mainly on the art of turntablism. The doc on VH1 focused mainly on MCs and the history behind the growth of hip hop music.

Anyway they are airing part 3 tonight on VH1 at 10:00pm. Don't miss it. And keep an eye out for repeats of parts 1 and 2 throughout the week.

The DJ is part of the four elements of hip-hop though, along with the MC, breaking, and graffiti.

caught a little bit of it during a break at school....when they were talking about the chronic and snoop.

seemed like your normal hiphop documentary tho...nothing seemed extroidenary about it.....tho it might seem great to thos who arent really into hiphop.

but i already know everything so it was like...oh...tell me something i dont know.

peace
