I was watching GameSpots history of RE where Hiroyuki Kobayashi breifly talks about all the RE games and when it got to REmake he said something to the effect of "Remaking RE1 was something I never imagined I'd do, but let's just say I'd never want to do it again.". So was there anything else he said while making it that would suggest that he was practically "forced" to do it? The way he said it sure sounded that way.

Given the wording, he may have just realized what a pain in the ass it was, and would prefer to simply not remake a game again.

I think what he mean was that while he was remaking RE, he was worried about dissapointing the fans. Maybe he doesn't want to go through that again. Even though he hardly dissappointed anyone with REmake and 0.

Certainly didn't disappoint me with REmake. Zero I didn't get into as much, but it was still definitely good.

Generally speaking, creative people don't like to muck around with their creations, let alone going back to them and just redoing them.

Proof of this is George Lucas. He is obviously not a creative person. He mucks around.

Well, videogames are part of a creative industry. It isn't such a big leap to think that the videogame directors care about the fans or the game itself.

The REmake was Shinji Mikami's bread and butter basically. Mikami played a minimal role in Zero as he was busy with P.N. 03 and eventually took over RE4 too.
