Also not a fan of the game punishing me for killing thugs that just shot up an orphanage. I know "silent assassin" and all that, but it's just silly. In fact, the constant scoring on the top corner is super distracting and breaking the immersion and flow of the game. Find a solution to a problem "o god the game doesn't grade it very high, I probably should have done it another way". Not rewarding at all.
.
I've just come back to this after a very long break. I love the franchise so much that I can't bear not to finish it... but, damn, they really dropped the ball here.
The game looks absolutely amazing, 47 controls so much better than he ever has, too; but by CHRIST the level design is utter, utter bollocks, especially coming after the master-class that was Blood Money. The opening parking lot section of
Attack of the Nuns
, for instance, is essentially one elaborate looking corridor; what about that ridiculous
barfight and shooting range
? What on Earth did IO think they added to the game apart from a chance to show off
Kane & Lynch
?
There are flashes of brilliance in there (Chinese New Year is incredible and the crowd mechanics are pretty mind blowing), but there are so many levels that simply don't need to be there and end up taking precious resources they could have used elsewhere.
I hope IO get their shit together and take all the aesthetics, the crowds and player control into their next game... and make sure they pour over Blood Money's level and story design with a fine tooth comb.
Dexter Industries mission is just one big "fuck you" to any Hitman fan out there. I'm at the Saints mission now, the first part is another huge "fuck you". In fact, every mission so far was a big "fuck you" and I'm struggling to keep playing.
So many awful design choices. I also can't stress enough how TERRIBLE the save system is.

I was so apprehensive about even starting it because of all the uproar about limited saves and respawning enemies, but both of those features work so well considering how short they made all the acts plus they sort of give you insensitive to keep trying to perfect an act or assassinate the main target differently. So if anything I think it actually makes you operate like hitman; get in, make your kill and get out rather than always running and gunning.
I was hooked by the third act or so. So fucking glad I gave it a chance as I loved it. Hopefully we see a sequel with the same mechanics. And I would love if they made that girl the main hit...woman in the next game.

Um... did they break this game in the last few months? Disguises don't work at all.
I'm on the frigging tutorial, and I can't get past the greenhouse. They are forcing me to walk past a guard and a gardener... and I burn my entire "instinct" meter just getting through the doorway only for 5 other guards to spot me from inside, and I have no instinct left.
This is not Hitman that I know. Doesn't even feel like the same Hitman Absolution I played at launch (never finished). I'm kind of annoyed.
Not sure if I'm on the right thread but Micromania (biggest retailer in France, subsidiary of Gamestop) listed Hitman Absolution GOTY on PS4 . It's probably an error since I haven't heard any word about a next-gen port but if there are new missions it could be interresting
Regardless of how easy it is to stealthily complete, I just couldn't figure it out. I didn't have any trouble with the previous missions (except for the orphanage) and every direction I chose in the courtroom led to me being seen.
I was playing on the Hard difficulty, so I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes.

Sorry, I didn't mean that to come across as condescending.
Are you still playing it? Have a ganders round the upper balcony of the courtroom and let the scene play out. My mistake was following the the Court Usher (or whatever he is). It isn't a very good Hitman level.

I haven't played it for quite a while but I've been meaning to give it another go. Thanks for the tip, I don't think I spent too long in the actual courtroom.
