HoloLens x Halo 5 on E3 showfloor?

No way will it be priced as a gaming add on. The tech in there is insane, I'm predicting surface pro style pricing (I have no inside info here, pure speculation). It'll be a sweet device to own, with gaming as a bonus Imo.

Yeah I don't see it being sold at less than 1K, and am still surprised everytime someone seems to consider it as a gaming peripheral, including MS.

Microsoft needs to team up with whomever has been designing transparent displays instead of using microprojectors.

That would fix the FOV if the right technology exists right?

As she went on, her avatar was replaced by a holographic 3D overview of the Warzone map we'd be playing on (seen in the videos above and below), and she pointed out key areas of interest. When she got to the bit about how Warzone introduces the occasional AI "boss," a giant Hunter Elder appeared in front of me, again making me feel like a f***ing Halo toy had sprung to life on the table. The HoloLens hype had been real, it turned out. And if the final, consumer version of HoloLens can deliver content experiences like this -- and hopefully increase the field of view -- than this augmented-reality device may prove to be the literal game-changing complement to the Xbox console that Kinect always wanted to be but never could.
GET HYPE

Lol.

If the hype is real, they improve the fov and deliver in content, then they have something in their hands that is much bigger than the Xbox brand, not a fucking "complement to the Xbox console".

No problem having games. Gamers will own one. It also helps illustrate what it can do in an engaging manner.

Not as far as I can tell. It looks like they just congregate at the front of the line on one side and are let in. The line for the other side is moving well.

They just need to mix up which side has to wait for the press to get in.

That seems completely at odds with the events I have been at. Weird.
Kick them out of the way for us.

I still don't believe HoloLens can actually work as described. I just can't.

Believe it or not. That shit actually works based on all the impressions I have read. The only problem it has is FOV. If somehow they can get the FOV bigger, that would be cool. But touch, responsiveness wise, its works.

Well some gamers will own one, or more realistically some owners will happen to be gamers too. But I can't see someone paying that much with the main perspective of playing games. Actually for the first gen at least, I can't see someone buying one if not for professional reasons, or as a hobbyist developper.
But then I may be wrong, and I guess the marketing team at MS has a better knowledge of the potential audience than I do. :P

Whelp. Just waited 4 hours in line and now they are not letting us play today. Said they are sold out with media for the rest of the day. Fuck e3

This tech is absolutely incredible. If they can actually get it to the point where it will cover most or all of you FOV.... damn that will be great. They obviously will, but how long will it take?

I'm slightly worried about the inter-pupillary distance measurement procedure by the way. I guess it only needs to be done once per user, but I wonder how they'll handle it for the commercial product.

Oculus does it by having a slider on the device where you can quickly adjust the IPD. The old Virtual Boy worked in a very similar way - when you turn on the machine you are supposed to adjust the IPD slider until you can see a symbol in all 4 corners of the screen, spaced evenly apart (people not doing this is what led to the much-publicized Virtual Boy headaches).

The military will buy enough of these to recoup MS dev costs alone.
