Got a wall in the hallway that has a scratch in the paint... not deep enough to damage the wall, but deep enough to be notiicably visible.

Got the paint to cover it, but the wall was painted several years ago... is there any way to colormatch it, or will it not matter since it wasn't exposed to lots of sunlight?

At Home Depot, they have this little thing for their Behr paint that you can stick a color sample into and it'll tell you which color matches it, and I've found that it works pretty well.

If the wall hasn't been exposed to sunlight a whole lot, and you painted as recently as a few years ago, fading shouldn't be an issue, either.

If you're happy with the color match they do for you, test an inconspicuous are first, if possible. Make sure you fan out the area you are toucing up...keep stroking around the area with your brush farther and farther out till the brush is almost dry. That will help it blend in.

Wait, you say you've got the paint to cover it...it's the original color? You should be able to use it after stirring/shaking it thoroughly if it's only been a couple years...again, test first if possible.

The sheen of paint has a lot to do with how well it will touch up as well. Eg-shell and satin finishes never seem to touch up well after that much time has passed, I usually end up repainting the wall to both corners.
