Honestly what's the point of spending money on the highest gpu

What's the point in spending money on nice things?

If the cost of a GPU is going to break you then you have other far more important things you should be concerned about than how other people spend their money.

I am not so sure that picking a gpu, earning money, or participating in transactions involving money, are all as controversial as paying absurd prices for the flagship products.
I'm rarely this dark but once Pootin pull the plug on electricity in Europe and control 70% of the world's neon gas production and pull Nato into a nuclear war for helping Ukraine "invade Russia" when they try to take back their country and then make China an ally, then we're all fucked anyway. So what's the point? Just be glad if you're going down while playing on a 4090.

There is more to this than resolution and frame rate lmao. I think the point he was talking is that no games push what those cards could really do in terms of real visuals, not pixel count and fps exclusively.

Example would be Crysis on a high end PC back in the day versus Crysis on the Xbox 360. There was a clear advantage to having a high end PC, it wasn't just about running the game faster at a higher res.
What are you saying man?
The difference between a game that has RTGI on PC and a game that doesnt is literally night and day.

Tbh I don't want to dwelve more on this darkness the world might be heading into. I'm building a new PC instead, just not sure yet if I should go with AMD or Nvidia, and how beastly the beast should be.

But the op problem is not even about spending money, it is about spending money and not seeing graphics worth it of $1600 usd.

Well that's an even fucking dumber problem.

You could spend roughly the same price as a 4090 on a Series X, PS5, and OLED Switch and play the same games looking and running a fraction as good.

Because im financially secure and enjoy building expensive systems and playing games at the highest quality available to consumers. Gaming it self is a luxury, and a $2000 gpu is hardly even a foot note on a "stupid expensive things to spend money on" page.

There is a huge difference in graphical fidelity and performance on a highend PC vs a PS5/SX.

Maybe he just hasnt seen games running on a highend PC in real life.

I will buy a 4090 because I can, because graphical fidelity and performance is important to me and because Its only a highend PC that can fully utilize my 65" 4K 120hz CX OLED TV.

I only have a PS5 for exclusives.

What's the point? Many points.

Older PC games with mods that can revitalize their replay value (this is a case by case type, but still relevant)
Older Games Emulated at 4k or higher at frames never intended on console
Partaking in AI programs
Work Station
Playing the latest games and fully utilizing an advanced display; i.e: 4k/120FPS/HDR10+, Etc
A high end GPU is also good for dual purposes: Running a game @4k/60fps + streaming said game on the same GPU. This scenario requires both a high end gpu and cpu, from my experience, but a very good GPU is needed because a program like, say, OBS also uses up GPU resources, so it's good to have excess in this scenario.

I am sure there are more, but im fucking lazy and just got off work. :messenger_smiling_hearts:NeoGAF
