Horrific Second Life Virtual Birth

I feel bad for the people who had to work on making birthing available in the game. What the hell >.>
Everything in SL is user created. Anything there's a market for, someone will create and sell to meet that demand. Quite a few people have virtual families in SL because they cannot have children IRL. I think it's weird as hell as well but meh. That's tame compared to what a lot of people there are involved in.

When the mother is asked to push, she should be forced to do so via a rhythm-based minigame. If she fails, the baby comes out stillborn.

Not to suck all the fun out of this thread, but seriously where's the gamification? When I first heard about Second Life years ago they made it sound so much better. I envisioned it as a mashup of every type of game where you were actually performing different actions. I was excited. Then I started "playing" and it seemed empty and boring. It's almost completely devoid of game mechanics. I got a job as a security guard which meant I wore a different outfit, held a gun, and stood at an entrance. There's nothing to secure. You can't steal things. The gun shot "bullets" but they didn't do anything. There's no real interaction with the world. I quit playing almost immediately. I get that it's role playing but why even make it a "game" if you still have to imagine 99% of it?

Second life still exists?

What exactly do you "do"? Why is this a thing? So many questions. I think i'll just leave it.

I think for a lot of people it's just a step up from text-based cyber sex. But sometimes people commit fully to the 'second life' aspect of the game. Sometimes, if you're a 46 year-old man, you pretend to be a 25 year-old girl. But not in the normal 'everyone on the internet is a guy' way, because you're actually double-roleplaying. You're really roleplaying as a squirrel from a story you're writing, and the squirrel is roleplaying as the rabbit avatar in Second Life, so when you tell people you're actually a girl you're not lying so much as committing to the first level of roleplay. Then, after you get fake-married to your bunny prince while your adopted human daughter watches, your real-real life long-distance girlfriend shows up and ruins everything by telling your husband that the player behind the player is actually a dude.

So then you have no recourse but to let her know you're hating on her through the My Little Ponies she got from you:

So, Enelar, if youÂ’re reading this, as I know you will eventually. I just want you to know that my ponies are not happy anymore. That piece of my heart they carry resonates with my recriminations for all the pain youÂ’ve caused me. ThereÂ’s an accusing glow in their eyes, reminding you of how much I loathe you for what you and your friends have done. I swear by the innocent SL children you callously orphaned, neither I nor my ponies will ever forgive you.

In fact, my dear Enelar, my ponies hate you. The loathing I feel for you in my heart is transmitted to them, just as my love for you was in the past. Now they watch over you at night with glaring, accusing eyes - like something out of a Stephen King movie. You are surrounded on all sides by the ponies I invested my magic in. Open your eyes in the dark and feel them watching you, loathing you for the pain youÂ’ve caused me. Haunting you with the ghost of the innocent love youÂ’ve destroyed. Haunting you, watching you, wishing to be anywhere but in the possession of someone as undeserving of pony magic as you.

I find the serious business aspects of Second Life substantially weirder than the weird sex stuff that goes on.

Wow... No words. I guess whatever makes you happy right?

Why the fuck is she giving birth in a babydoll?

Fucking fuck, and the music started happening... and I don't know man, I just clicked X.

The best part of SL is the fact that it's basically got a currency system that people use. Paying real life monies to purchase stuff for their characters in game. You can also make money in SL too by creating things and converting the SL currency back into real dollars. I have no idea how lucrative or time intensive that kind of shit is though.

You can make quite a bit of money actually. I knew someone that started an ingame furniture store in 2006 and it's been her primary source of income ever since. For a time I worked as her programmer (because nothing there works without being scripted and so good scripters are always in demand) and I made relatively decent money given the amount of work required. I ended up retiring though, it just got to be too much of a hassle for me.

Real life millionaires have been made because of Second Life. My head was full of fuck reading the articles way back.

I miss Second Life a little bit. Back in the days of Shawn Elliot on GFW, I would go on there, make crazy ass characters and have quite a bit of fun poking around.

I have seen worse on there. Second Life has a certain draw. Downloading it now.

I took it really seriously:
