How does Ralph get into these places when people don't want him there? I have no idea how SL works but I assume there's some way to make the rooms invite-only?

The general reaction is enough for me to not click on this video, but is the kid a NPC or is it another player-character?

edit: I don't know enough about second life. I can find out.
 
I don't even understand how this works. People spend time programming all this stuff, like live births ad whatnot? Is this done by users or Second Life staff?
 
I completely lost it at the part where you see the baby spawn inside the rock behind her. That coupled with the music... just, too much.

One of my colleagues husbands runs a private detectives agency in second life. Apparently he is making enough money doing it that he's paying for their wedding using his gains.

How does this work? Is this something that's in the game or is it somehow modded?

This thread is great for showing why Second Life is both amazing and horrifying. Since anyone can make and sell anything, and if there's demand, someone will make everything... no matter how bizarre.

It's like a being in a world where every meme, every strange community and subculture mingle. You could go to a beach sim and see Pyramid Head racing surfboards with some cyborg furries.

edit: Now I watched the coolaid man video and saw someone fondling a unicorn. Yeah.....

"Horrific Second Life" does not need further qualifiers or descriptors.

Just have to peek in once and see a dude on a sex swing with a horse to know nothing is ever anything but.

Yea I logged into the site and my character is still there. Sometimes I think about going back... sometimes

The learning curve is pretty steep and I believe you are now required to send in photo ID to access the adult areas/content.

Second life shows what happens when user realms bleed into each other without barriers.

Absolutely atrocious anarchic visual chaos. Which of course has its own sense of wonder and beauty.

But that needs to be its own thing, and not some new 'virtual reality internet'.

No... in the future, it'd be good to have this visual spatial internet... but like websites, each environment should be its own thing unto itself.

Like a good number of 'official sites' will only take human style avatars, others will only take avatars modelled from your scan data (Maybe something that facebook would do in the future, and sites that take those kinds of logins now, would take that sort of 'reality based avatar' logins in future.

While others like Neogaf might be more blase, but ban certain types of avatars (NSFW, racist, etc).

So that way, there can be mega virtual environments that seek to amalgamate all creative endeavours into a freeform sandbox environment, and more constructed and designed experiences that are more internally cohesive.

not afraid to admit, i played second life........once, after seeing it on the office, played for an hour and then uninstalled it. heh
 
are Ralph Pootawn and Ralph Bluetawn different people? and is there only one person that is Ralph Pootawn who just goes around and trolls everyone?

Also that koolaid man video...I should have stopped at 16:08. The horrors that follow literally made my jaw drop
