Some spoilers. I watched Sinners, but I can't really see what people are raving about. It felt like several movie scrips sticked together. It was all over the place. One second it's all normal drama in the 30's, the next there's modern day twerking gals and DJs, and then there's vampires and finally a shootout with the KKK and nothing meshes well. It has a very gorgeous cinematography and is entertaining, but I feel it's vastly overrated. The horror elements are paltry at best, but the music is good. If they had decided to focus on one or two aspects then it could have become a classic, but I was left scratching my head over what I just watched.

I've been watching the "In search of Darkness" series it's a 3 part documentary on 80's horror it's not very in depth but a good way to compile a watch list!

I watched Halloween 6: Curse of Michael Myers last night. I'd only seen this once previously, which is strange with Halloween being my favourite horror series, but I wish it had stayed that way. I don't like the whole curse of black thorn stuff. Myers' mask is probably the worst in the series too.

I was so hyped when I saw the trailer for it when I watched Companion or Longlegs but my hype totally fizzled when I realized it wasnt really a horror movie. I might catch it on streaming someday.

Ziam turned out to be a fun new Asian zombie flick with the action set in a large hospital. It's definitely a summer movie instead of something ambitious and the main character prefers to use his martial arts skills rather than melee weapons or firearms to deal with zombies. Overall it was a fun watch, even with a kid sidekick who's thankfully not that annoying. It's not going to be another Train to Busan you'll still remember years later, but there are much worse zombie movies out there.

Might give this a watch. I need a zombie fix
I skipped the newest 28 whatevers

I was about to skip the movie, because it has only 4.9/10 on imdb. Definitely doesn't deserve such a low score, I'd give it maybe 6+ (there's a nice little sequence at the end deserving that plus). Maybe it's not resonating well with the western audiences. It leans definitely towards action, however there's one pretty dramatic scene with a gruesome ending.

Any werewolf movie recommendations? I've seen American Werewolf in London, Cursed, The Wolf Man, and Ginger Snaps.
Stephen King's Silver Bullet (Corey Haim version, not sure if they have remade it) is a fav, the book with the pics for each month was one I also loved as a kid. Very with the classic werewolf lore, much like his Salem's Lot for vampires.

Werewolves Within was mildly entertaining as a comedy. WolfCop is also mildly amusing in a tawdry way. Howl is another kinda fun one, more straight horror None of these really push the werewolf genre or feature particularly novel designs (I feel AWiL really hit on the best iteration of a scary werewolf and Dog Soldiers had the creepiest ones)

Single moms are FREAKS betwixt the sheets though......worth the risk :P

Will put these on my list. Thank you.

Bring Her Back was quite uncomfortable to watch, I think I have a problem with violence & gore when children are involved. Or innocent animals.

so, just watched Barbarian last night after hearing it's great and what not. and honestly I don't feel it after watching it. it's not bad, but it's far from great. I thought there's more to the premise but it ended up being another inbreeding mutant monster flick. some of the shots are nice but I'm disappointed by it overall. didn't the hobo said there's something even worse than the "mother"? was he talking about the "grandad" who's basically crippled in bed (and yes, I know what he did before)? anyway, really meh for me.

Bring Her Back was a good film but it just didn't really do it for me, unfortunately. The gore factor was too over the top for my tastes. I prefer Talk to Me.

Yeah the gore was really hard to watch and I wish they had explored the ritual aspect of how she was going to bring her back and who the cult was but even then it's the best horror movie I've watched since Hereditary

Sinners fell apart towards the end there.

I would like to see Jordan and Peele collaborate in the future on a horror flick. That'd be dope asf

As for Hailee Steinfeld...

Dumb fun. Turn of your brain and enjoy.

Me and the Mrs spent the film trying to figure out how the family was so diverse.

7/10

Eh, didnt grab me. The whole 'I'm trying to avoid death....by living in the most hazardous filled environment you could possibly imagine' was just too stupid. Kind of like the storyline in general.

I mean the story was never the series strong point, but this one plays in way to much for the slow cuts of all the potential dangers lurking.

Anyway, speaking of dumb fun, M3gan 2.0. It's the literal definition of dumb fun. I didnt really like the first or got the appeal. It was trying to be an interesting horror that just came off as.....uninteresting. This sequel though, takes itself way less seriously. The story is just massively over the top, you have to turn off any common sense to get how the characters are supposedly doing what they are doing and it definitely isn't really horror anymore so much as action I suppose, with some gore moments, but the film doesn't take itself at all serious, M3gans lines are often hilarious and the characters are dumb as fuck intentionally but it actually feels all the better for it.

When I first heard there was a sequel I didnt much care for it based on the first one, but this sequel is definitely a fun ride.

Totally Killer is a fun Back To the Future/Horror/comedy. I am an 80's kid and had a great time with this. Longlegs is also a great watch. I'll have to look at our watch history. Horror films are our favorite genre.

Thanks for the Silver Bullet recommendation. Enjoyed it a lot.

I also watched Brainscan. I've seen it before. Another great horror.

I recently rewatched Invasion of the Body Snatchers from the 70s. Man, what a great movie. The way it builds up the paranoia and the very good practical effects. It has lots of small stuff that make it feel like these are real humans. For example the cooking scene and when the female character does a weird thing with her eyes. It grounds you so that when shit hits the fan you're there with the characters.

I also loved to see Nimoy and Goldblum. The gal from Alien is perfect as the hysterical woman.

I really do not like the drab color pallete of that film. It's one of the reasons that I haven't seen it twice. Crap locations?

Low budget Aussie flick.

Not great but not far off. Worth a watch.

Bonus point for the chick being hot.

7/10

Half way through this, nipped out for a smoke. Not sure I like the massive come down half way through..

Sort of yanks you out of the premise

Right up until then, with headphones on, Holy shit..

Just to add, skarsgard is awsome at horror. Them bulging eyes, yet perfect lull acting at times of normality, perfection.

So guys, as part of preparations for the upcoming game, which Hellraiser movies are worth watching? I think I've only seen 1 & 2, but that was a long time ago and I'm definitely planning a rewatch.

I really enjoyed this one.

How many are there? The most recent one I never finished, and I seem to recall one set in space, didn't really care for it. Probably due for a rewatch myself, good idea because that new game looks siiiiiiiiick.
