New key art is up, too:

I'm glad this will finally be out soon, but it's making me very anxious for news on S2 of Orange Is The New Black. (Which is a far better show.)

Overall, I love Netflix's dump-all-at-once strategy, but it really makes the gaps between seasons excruciating.

I'm gonna need to read a cliff's notes for the first season, because I've forgotten most of what happened. I remember I enjoyed it, though.

Seems weird that VP was Frank's prize from all that trouble in S1. Isn't VP a pretty powerless position? Except that whole succession business? So unless Frank's gonna be getting the Pres killed or impeached, why would he want to be VP?

I'm assuming Orange S2 will be out in the summer - June-July timeframe.

It's a stepping stone to the presidency or at least a run for the presidency which is what I assume he wants

He's "too Washington" to run as a governor, moving to the Senate as a junior senator is a huge downgrade from his current spot, and Speaker isn't how you get to to be President. There are actually only a few channels by which people become President in this country.

Ideally he could have been Secretary of State in the first administration, retired from the post after the first term and started his own presidential run then. Since he angled for VP, his trajectory seems clear-he's going to bring down Walker while Walker's in office.

Fraaaawwwwncis Uhhhhndahwoooood.

House of Cards is the bomb and Spacey kills it but this southern accent is ridiculous.

Be interesting to see if they did a third season and would it follow the general outline of the original UK show. The show deviated greatly in certain characters fates.

My favorite show of last year. I can't wait to see what Season 2 brings. I really, really hope Frank wins in the end. I'd hate to see him get taken down, especially by Zoe. I just want everything to get more and more crazy and ridiculous and insane as Frank manipulates his way to the top. Can't wait for Valentine's day.

Great written and acted series.

My only complaint is that the last few episodes of S.1 were "weaker" compared to the first half.

Spacey is such a god though

Recently subscribed to Netflix and binge-watched this show. It's really well done and I was very surprised at how hooked I was to a show about politics. I hate politics.

God help us all now that he's in the White House, can't wait to binge watch. However, it does make you wonder how they can keep the series going after this new season. I've always pictured it as a two, maybe three season drama with S1 depicting his rise, S2 his shaky rule, and S3 his fall.

He has to be POTUS, the ultimate position. S3 should be the moment where is plan from S1 succeeded.

Hmm I've just always wondered how that is going to be accomplished especially with the conspiracy so quickly in the air after S1. At best he could manufacture a scandal that would force the President to step down, or resort to simple outright assassination (most unlikely). However, it would be hard to engineer a scandal that would only look bad on the President as opposed to his entire administration. Even if he succeeded in having the President step down he would have to be one hell of a good President to be re-elected, Gerald Ford faced that problem and lost but I guess he's no Frank Underwood.

The way the media jumps on things today, all Frank has to do is feed tidbits to the bloggers. Gradually weaken the President so he is not a viable candidate for re-election. Then Frank "reluctantly" assumes the mantle of the party leader when asked by the party leadership.

(spoilers for the UK version)

In the original British version of House of Cards, Francis Urquhart (Frank Underwood's analogue) manufactures an insider trading scandal involving the prime minister's brother that ultimately forces the PM to resign. Granted, removing a prime minister and a president are two entirely different things, but it kind of gives you an idea of what the show could possibly have in store.

I could see Underwood creating a similar scandal that's damaging enough to stop the president from running for re-election, though not enough to get him immediately removed from office. The tricky thing, of course, is for Frank to do that without poisoning his own potential candidacy, as you've noted.

I think that plan is even worse, I mean sure it's "plausible" but realistically if a party is so weak that the President is no longer a viable candidate for re-election then that same party is probably not going to win re-election. It's just a fact of American politics that things that negatively effect the President are cast negatively towards his entire administration and his party, just look at Clinton and the Lewinski scandal. Also, the route you propose would presumably have us go through all four years of the current President's term which I don't think the show will do.

Yup, see that's what I thought but like you said the UK Parliamentary system and the US Presidential system are so different that it's hard to see that working in the US version.
