I've been watching this series from the begining and was a bit shocked to hear that it was actually a 'hit' in America? The main star, Hugh Laurie, is actually English, but he seems to have struck a chord with a lot of people in this role. The show's basically like a cross between 'CSI' and 'Medical Investigation', but running at slower pace, with more focus on character development and side stories. Anyone else enjoying it as much as I am? Check it out if haven't yet already.

AICN just reported he is out as Perry White, and Frank Langella is going to play him. :(

Wait, you mean the guy with the cane is actually English?

He apparently 'puts on' the American accent. He was also in 'Flight of the Phoenix' recently, where he has his traditional English accent.

I finally watched the first episode of House last night. Holy shit, this show is freakin' incredible. Savage wit, Sherlock Holmes riffs, and bizzare medical happenings? Sign me up for more of that flavor. Hugh Laurie simply rocks; after years of associating him with George, the Prince of Wales in Black Adder, it's nice to see him throwing out Adder-esque lines at his poor, doomed patients.

So, yeah, I'll be wallowing in more of this as soon as possible.

I like the show, but House is so fucking annoying to me.

You like the show...and yet you hate the character that was, apparently, important enough to name the show after. Whaaaa?

My favorite show on TV, slightly edging out 24 and South Park. At least untill Family Guy and Chappelle Season 3 :D, then I wont know.

Dr. House is the shit.

So I missed the last couple of episodes. How did they introduce the guy from Boston Public? Is he a guest or a regular?

I thought the thread was going to be about this:

Good to see Hugh Laurie doing well in the US - I always enjoyed his comedy sketch show "A Bit of Fry and Laurie" (with Stephen Fry).

He's the new owner of the hospital, so he's been on pretty constantly.

The guy from Boston Public is looking to be a regular now, he donated a bucket ton of money to the hospital and was made the chairman of the board as I recall.

I can't wait for new episodes. :D

Maybe he becomes so engrossed by the TV shows that he watches that he gains complete and total empathy with the characters.

So:

When he watches House, the doctor's hi-jinks put him on edge.
When he watches the Dukes of Hazzard he becomes appalled at Bo and Luke's disregard for traffic laws.
When he watches American Idol he gets the butterflies and sweaty palms just before each contestant takes the stage.

TV must not be very fun.

HO-LY SHIT.

Just started downloading eps of House recently, and started from Episode 7 because they were readily available from btefnet. My god Hugh Laurie is awesome.

Was always a big fan of him being from the UK and all, but I've been really gripped by the 4 or so episodes I've seen.

Managed to get torrents of the first 5 episodes, so will go back to those before progressing. Anyone know where I can get the 6th episode? Haven't been able to find it thus far.

And the theme tune kicks ass for some reason.

Is his accent good? It sounds a bit off to me, but I'm not from the US, so what do I know.
Yeah, it's spot on. I wouldn't have known he was English if I hadn't read it.

The episode DNR was awesome. Episodes 7 and 8 were both great, but the 9th episode DNR seriously sealed the deal on this show for me. Yet another US show I'll need to torrent each and every week. :lol

Think it starts in the UK here sometime this month, don't think it's on a particularly popular/mainstream channel as far as I remember.

yeah, I saw him on Leno a few weeks ago, and he was actually really witty on there. Couldn't believe he was actually English. Leno kept trying to get him to do his American accent because he was so shocked that he wasn't American, and the guy refused to do it, just laughing Jay off.

But yeah... really cool ass show. I don't catch as much of it as I'd like to, but it's really good. Last one I saw was the one with the Monster Truck ending. Gravedigger RAWX

It's a pretty nice show. Though I thought in that one episode that they should've kept the tumor in that little girl's head. "More cushings for the pushings", and all that.

...Wow, just realized that that WAS a bad joke, no wonder they they threw pillows at me...

I got caught up on all the episodes - eighteen aired so far - in one weekend.
I couldn't stop watching them! It's a great show.

And Dr. House has so many similarities to classic fictional detectives - right down to the substance abuse.

My favorite episode is probably the one with the Mafia guy - some strong acting in that one.

The next episode looks awesome :lol. Poor House (not really, Cameron's pretty hot for in a sort of "normal" way).
