I had this HD that I used to access using cable and USB wire... in any case, it stopped working for some reason... whenever i plug it in, it makes this clicking sound...

is there anyway to get any of the data in it (music and some documentaries)... or is it completely busted

Call the company that makes it they may be able to help you but there most likely will be a fee. I think there might be other companies that you can ship the hdd to and they will get the information off of it for you but for a fee. Sorry dont have the time to look it up.

i think it's expensive if you give it to a company that specializes in HD recovery. if the data is very imporatant, then you may want to do it i suppose

i think freezing the hard drive works too...but it only gives you anywhere from a couple minutes to a hour to back up whatever data you need

Try putting the drive in the freezer for a while, in a ziplock bag. Reducing the temperature can sometimes get the thing to work for a short time.
