i dont want it to block any ports or anything like that. i just wanna use it so i can ftp to my xbox and go on xbox live with my xbox while being online with the computer.

its a linksys besr41 router. ive looked around the admin/options page but couldnt find it anywhere.

Wouldn't you just set up port forwarding? I don't see why this would be hard.

yeah ive done that with several programs and im still having trouble with a few and im mostly having trouble with xbox live. i just want to completely shut it all off.

With my linksys I just go to:
192.168.1.1 in IE
Advanced
Port Forwarding
Xbox Live TCP = 3074 UDP = 88,3074
click enable.

No, because that would be an incredibly stupid thing to do. You may as well ask the gas station manager why the pumps don't have lighters at the end of the nozzle.

Just put the XBox in the DMZ. Then your XBox, and only your XBox, will be sitting outside of the router's protection.

Yeah look up DMZ on your router manual.

DMZ can be only applied to one IP with some routers...and if it's just your Xbox you want to have demilitarized, then it should be a-ok, and your PC will be protected.
