Assuming you're running Windows 2000/XP:

Search for a file called "hosts" (no extension) on your PC and delete anything that's in there that you didn't specify. It's a text file, so open it in wordpad or notepad. But make sure there's no extension when you re-save it.

Otherwise, you can right click on my network neighborhood, right click on your network card, choose properties and put in an alternate DNS server, but I really doubt that's the problem.

check your host file.

i had spyware add shit to it. took me a while to figure out. i couldnt enter orbitz.com for a while.

EDIT

too slow. :/

My hosts file only has 1 entry "127.0.0.1 localhost" and removing it doesn't fix the problem... there are other files in the same folder lmhosts.sam, networks, protocol, and services, and non of them contains anything suspicious

I wanted to cancel some DVD preorders from Amazon.com but when I checked my credit balance yesterday I realized that they already went through, damn this is already causing me big trouble... Looks like I'm going to format and reinstall Windows XP, I hope that fixes it at least! :(

Save your host file in a differente place and do a Flush DNS. To do this simply enter: ipconfig /flushdns in a command prompt. Sometimes this works for this cases

I agree witht the spyware advice. I had a woman call in and the only site she couldn't get to was Nextell.com or something. Had her run AdAware the corrent way and she got right back into the site....that flushdns command looks promising too.

You could also just re-install the NIC drivers..prolly not the problem, but it's realy simple to do and only takes a minute.
