How does Party City still exist?

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
Is it really just Halloween shopping? It just seems like such a weird store to be thriving in every city I've lived in for like 15 years. There's always a Party City and I never get why them and Radio Shack have dodged the graveyard to this day.

party city has cheap shit and carry stuff you can't find any other place to be honest.

plus the balloons are cool

I have to disclose that I don't party. Maybe that's why I don't get this.

It's pretty much the only place to find that sort of stuff. It doesn't surprise me that they're still around.

unlike alot of brick and mortars party city has stuff you don't necessarily go to amazon for. it probably isn't going anywhere

Party city is always jam packed even if It doesn't look it from the outside. Tons of stuff at insane markups. Imagine a large percentage of inventory is paper goods

I think the real question here is what's up with those stores that open up just for halloween for 1 month a year. I think it's crazy they can hire people for one month, lease a building for one month, and break it all down again to get shipped back to to the warehouse after, while still being profitable

It's a good business model and they probably take advantage of the ever increasing empty big box store square footage in the suburbs.

Aggressive B2B sales calls, based on my voicemail.

I'm perplexed as to why you thought Party City only sold Halloween stuff, OP.

Is it true that Halloween isn't their biggest deal during that time of year? I figured those remote stores opened just for Halloween because Party City had no competition and overhead for that couple of months made it worth it since they rake the money in.

Those places cater more to adults than kids since adults celebrate more than kids who go all out on one day.

If you want certain color napkins, plates, plastic utensils, m&ms, and table covers where else are you going to go?

They sell party crap for every holiday too (you can probably even buy a plastic rabbit-faced shot glass necklace for your Easter party there).

Great place for easy themed birthday parties and balloons for kids. I never stepped foot in one until I had kids. Now I'm there every time a birthday rolls around

Yeah, the main holiday they are busy during is Halloween, but they have stuff for every occasion.

Having a retirement party, they have retirement themed party supplies. Kids birthday? They have all sorts of popular kids themed party supplies. Mardi Gras party? They do that to.

Really OP, you could have probably answered your question by going in there anytime before September and seeing what they do.

Radio Shack I don't know. They used to have all sorts of cool science project, type stuff, but they seem to specialize in electrical wiring supplies and cell phones. I don't understand who they cater to and who actually shops there.

I worked at a party city from last Halloween til December when I lost the job because my car broke down.

Certainly the store was way more busy around Halloween, but it had steady business past it as well. The bulk of the customers were there for birthday supplies, but it was also for sporting events and weddings.

I can also say the markup was insane. For items the owner paid say 2$ for were sold for 20.

My first job ever. Also, by far, the worst job I've ever had. I wore a big foam witch head by the street for Halloween. Fuck Party City lol
