My parents gave me this old 750mhz duron processor that runs windows me. Well, here is the problem. When you go to turn it on it will act as if it is running but nothing will come up. Once in a great while you will manage to make it to the Window ME screen and it will just die. I haven't the slighest clue on how to fix this.

It would be nice to have it up and running since it was free and we did use it for a long time. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ok, now maybe someone can help me. Since yesterday my computer will boot to the desktop and restart. It keeps doing it again and again and again. That's pretty much the story now. I read somewhere my motherboard may need cleaned so how can I do that? Thanks.

This sounds like what my laptop does sometimes. I'm running Me also. When I turn it on it will just show a black screen. If I hit the standby button and wait for it to go to standby and then hit the power button it will pop right on at my desktop. I'm not sure how you would do this with a PC though.

I've read that using an air-compressor or cutips with rubbing alcohol works, but I want a second opinion before I go and do it.

if you have an xp dis, I just would wipe the HD and install that instead.
