How is your GAF social network?

I know no one. I've had a few chats here and there, but nothing has lasted. I've considered going to the Toronto meet ups a few times, but I've always bailed out at the end

I met my boyfriend on GAF. We live together now.

Also met one of my close friends on here but she moved to live with her gaffer boyfriend.

Have made other friends and hang out with them when they visit NYC or I visit their cities.

There's a bunch of posters who if I have the chance to meet in person I will definitely take it.

I met some cool people here for pax East a few years ago but I haven't really talked to any more people from here. I met one guy IRL who posts here and I haven't seen him since. I have him on steam though.
Your username sounds familiar. :O Are you going again this year?

zero friendships.

a couple people on my block list.

a few acquaintances that I met at an nyc vita meetup.

and a bunch of avatars that i recognize and have grown to learn their personas from being a member for awhile.

bout it really.

Some friends I think, some enemies who probably have me blocked.

No real crossover IRL

Nobody.

I don't even know 99,99% of posters/avatars here.

Sometimes I wonder why I am even posting myself here... You get drowned in a sea of posts immediately in every thread anyway.

Yeah I'll be there just for Friday. Lots of stuff going on that night too, so I hope I see some of you all.

I don't have any friends, lol.

It'as a forum, not Facebook, so I'm cool either way. I'm here to have good discussions, not make a million friends.

My GAF friends change with whatever game I'm currently playing or social network I'm currently focusing my time on. Used to hang out with TF2 GAF regularly while we still had a server but I've uninstalled it since then and we've fallen out of touch. Added a few GAFers on FB and Miiverse a while ago, but lately the social networking site I've been focusing on most has been Twitter, and there's plenty of GAFers on there. I even made a list:

Edit: Oh man I just remembered back when Google Wave was a thing and Dudebro II GAF was using it to collaborate... too bad that died...

Everybody seems to adore me in political threads -- so I'd say the social networking aspect is working pretty well.

Aww, we'lll be arriving to Boston around midnight on Friday so we'll be missing out on all that stuff. Hope you have fun! And if you're in the city still, we'll probably be going out after the event if you want to join on Saturday.

Died with depgaf chat :(.
I like when we talk. :( I just don't sign into Steam that often.

I'm scared of meeting people so I try to hide from SweGAF. Except Kiriku, he's cool.

And I secretly follow some of you on twitter.

I follow a handful on Twitter though they probably don't know I'm from gaf.
Back when I was active in MaddenGaf franchise, used to play pretty regularly and so you got to know them.

This also reminds me of a study I did on GAF quoting practices for a paper. I graphed the social network of a couple dozen threads based on who quotes whom. I should go back and see who the "influential" posters in the network were.

Here's what a sample of the GAF social network looks like:

All those people on the edge are posters who never quote or are never quoted.

I've been here for almost 10 years and struggle to remember user names. It's been harder to recognize fellow regular posters since they removed animated avatars. And people change theirs too often.

I have been considering planning a GAF meetup in my area, though. I think there are lots of STL people here.

I have a few people I interact with on Twitter and a couple group chats that I use occasionally but nothing major.
A lot of my GAF activity is in small, close communities so people just sort of get familiar with each other here.

I have none. Other than a few chats with people I've bought/sold stuff with and the game of Mafia I played with some good folks.

I've thought about going to a meetup or whatever in my area (outside Detroit) if there ever was one, but I haven't seen anything mentioned and I ain't about to organize one.

Omg I'd be super-interested in reading about this. Have you published the results somewhere?

got my account approved around 1 and a half year ago after lurking for quite some time...got nothing so far xD I don't post that much but i am a nice person and try to reply in that manner everytime someone quotes me. So...maybe some day

TO GAF has a good crew of a couple dozen and we have monthly meetups now.

There's lots of gaffers I meet up with at conventions as well.

That is super cool.

As for my socialness with GAF. Pretty limited. I know a handful of people I know in real-life are on here but I don't think we know our usernames. I think you're all cool peoples though and maybe one day I'll stop being a wuss and go to a meetup.

Non-existent. I don't play games long enough (and pretty much never new ones) to really post in an OT...and my country's OT as well as my largest non-gaming hobby OT are terrible.

Got a nice group of GAF friends. Some I play with more than others. I have 1 I play with a ton that's definitely a longer term friendship.

Zero, this is just a place to kill time at work. GAF as a social network lolol it's just a message board.
