How is your GAF social network?

I met my girlfriend of 3 1/2 years here, met someone who would be my roommate for 3 years, met tons of folks from around the country and partied with them, and have been in pretty much constant contact with most of queergaf via skype or discord for the past 5-6 years!

Sooo I think the network of friends I've made is pretty vast, and I'm pretty thankful for that. I've met some really great people through GAF! :)

No, not yet. My professor wants me to beef it up and submit it to some academic journals but I don't know if I want to put in the effort. :(

But I could make a thread about my findings. :)

Thanks! It was a lot of fun to do!

Pls do.

Just be careful about posting figures and so on on gaf.

If you want to publish a paper, the journal may deny you if you have published a lot of the stuff elsewhere before. You should probably ask your professor for advice before making such a thread

Hmm. Good idea. I'll see what he says!

Even though I now spend most of my GAF-time in OT, I still view GAF as a gaming forum.

So sure, I game with quite a few GAFers on PS4 (and X360 last gen) when I have time. More accurately, I get destroyed in SFV by other GAFers, and try not to embarrass myself with a horrible K/D ratio when playing team games.

I have 1 friend IRL who is on GAF, but he rarely posts. But I also tend to forward some funny threads to other friends in group chat to have fun.

Limited to only one person here with whom I sometimes play games. I mean I played Destiny and FFXIV with a lot of Gaffers, but there's only one person that's closer to what I would call a real friend, even though we've never met outside of games.

I view this as a gaming site first and foremost.

However, I can semi chop it up with folks online like I do in a barbershop, but as far as adding people on my gaming lists for gaming or just to add them I guess?

I'd rather not establish online relationships. I need to be outside talking to people to feel em that much.

None of my Family/MC/Friends, use this site, so I'm ok with keeping it to limited use.

I'm terrified as to what people on GAF think of me.

I'm also terrified that people on GAF may not think anything of me.

Except there are a bunch of people who I've argued with on GAF that are pretty terrible. Diet racists and such. I don't care about them so much, except that they fuck right off.

I just dump my garbage opinions here without much interaction

I've joined a bunch of GAF Discord channels for the occasional multiplayer match tho I guess?

I got some duders I play games with and chat stupid stuff and snapchat wierd things to each other. They cool.

And Fakegaf discord is full of good peeps. Havent been around there lately tho.

I know nobody on GAF. Or anywhere else online for that matter, outside of Facebook.

Used to consider people I played MMOs with friends and dated a few and talked outside of the game. But that all stopped over 10 years ago.

The exact look on my face.

My Twitter somehow became entirely Gaffers. It's like a small collective of woke Nintendo fanboys.

Follow me @Inferno313

I follow a few GAFfers on Twitter, but that's about it. I meant to join the FFXIV GAF guild at one point, but I just... didn't.

I mean I talk to people in the Dating GAF thread but that's mainly beating people over the head with simplistic dating advice, I doubt I've made many friends as a result :p

I often wonder if I stopped posting who would really notice or care.

I've posted a bunch in Gaming, OT and community threads trying to branch out and become friends with people but only MangaGAF really stuck and that's probably just because it moves at a slower pace and I inflict myself on the thread too often to ignore fully.

I've been on gaf for 10+ years and I've never wanted to meet anyone. Honestly most of you are super fucking wierd .

I don't have regular contact with anyone on here. Never really been into that kind of thing. I'm grand as I am. Posting from the pub with mates atm. I can't really enjoy long conversations if I'm not talking face to face. More power to the people that do though.

I've met a lot of people here who I keep up with on twitter, steam and discord. Other game devs, people who are fun to joke around with, a good mix. GAF can be really huge and really small at the same time.

Fakegaf is a deadly place
Death is just a beginning 🙃

Hmm. Good idea. I'll see what he says!
I agree with the others, that's really cool! If you eventually share your findings in greater detail I'd love to see it.

Not much really, I follow some gaffers on Twitter and some follow me and I have a few of them as friends on my 3ds and Wii U and that's pretty much it, but I'm open if anyone wants to chat or anything, feel free to send me a pm or follow me @netoo87

No one really. But thats my fault because I'm not here enough and need to participate in more thread communities I'm interested in.

Weird people are interesting.

GAF has some really cool people. I just don't bond with folks online much. I need face to face contact.

There seems to be a good subset of folks who get together on IRC and other channels and become best buds. Not my style.

Active in the Smash community (albeit not too recently) and follow a number of Gaffers on Twitter. Also worked with a certain someone here for translation purposes. :D

I've met most of Belgium GAF irl, and most of my twitter interactions are with gaffers... which is actually the main reason why I keep using twitter, it's fun. That's about it though. There are some cool communities here (Steam, gaf hop, metal, comics), but I can't find the time to really be active in any of them, mostly lurk.

Damn! This website has done wonders for you!

Years ago I used to post daily on a Quake III community forum. Got pretty darn chummy with them. I took a break for just a couple of days (pretty much just a weekend of partying with some IRL friends) and the forum people completely lost their minds. It shook me.

Since then... sorry, I'm sure you're all very nice people, but I'd rather you all stay anonymous to me.
