How long will current gen [PS5 & XSX] last?

I wonder what's your opinion as great connoisseurs of game industry on possible end of current gen console support. Are we going to see "AAA" multiplatform PS5 games 5 or even 10 years from now?
If the economic situation remains at least the same or even worse, and game development continues to rise in cost, plus if hardware is also more expensive, will we ever get a "true" next gen anytime soon?

I can say for sure that Series X/S will not last as long as PS5. With a new generation Xbox, developers will be able to address that audience whilst skipping Series S entirely, and if the parity clause stays, the X will be abandoned with it.

Seems Xbox (if the rumors are true) are ready to launch their next-gen console holiday 2026. I'm sure they will gradually decrease their talk of their current machines over the months that follow in an attempt to get ahead of Sony.

But as we've seen, nearly 5 years of cross-gen games and PS4 is still being mentioned. I'd imagine PS4 will end it's lifecycle when the PS6 comes out and PS5 will continue to live on until PS7 comes out...maybe.

I think we'll still see some of the sports games getting PS5 versions well into the PS6 lifecycle. If we assume the PS6 is coming out in '27 or '28, it seems reasonable we'll still be seeing new PS5 games in 2032.

however long the PS6 gen will last.
I don't thinking there will ever be a point where PS5 games stop being released. it's gonna be the entry level console for the PS6

The old Xbox 360 strategy. Would love if it pans out, but since most games are cross platform, I don't see how it would work today.

I can't see the PS6 being released before 2028.

This is kind of my thought as well. I decided to get a PS5 Pro when I found a good deal for a used one with a disc drive so I have the top of the line console for a time to come. I don't plan to get a PS6. I'll ride the PS5 until 2029-2030 and then go all in on a PC build.

There'll be cross gen at least 1 gen back from now onwards, so yeah. Also, no one worried about "true next gen" when everyone was still rocking a 1080ti even after the 2000 series cards were out.

They are launching a PC, not a console

A machine that runs Steam is not a "console" by definition, as you play the PC version of games, not dedicated software
