Cheeks Spread for Digital Only Future
You start a movie on a whim sight unseen. How many company production animations before the credits is enough for you to back right out because it is going to be shit?
You know the deal:
Camera glides over a landscape, pulls back to reveal the Hilltop Pictures logo, fade to black, street scene fades to black and white - Mainstreet Pictures, fades to black,
animated quill writes out Chinese letters, written below - Mandarin Productions, fade to black, .......

Obligatory:

Yeah this, but there is a point where if you see 4 of those things you know the movie is gonna be shit, not sure if it is because the idea wasn't good enough to get major funding, or if it's a sign that they were struggling to get money, or whether it's a too many cooks spoil the broth.

It's a red flag at 4. Most every film has 2 for tax purposes I think, 3 is a vanity company for the director or lead actor, but 4 is starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel.

It really depends. I'm overseas, so local distributions of US films funnel through multiple publishers. So there are production companies tacked on who might only handle distribution. As a result, I don't even pay attention anymore.
