Your law degree will pay dividends at some point-- when in doubt, just pull a John Edwards!
My post suggested that the particular quoted post made him a dickface. A dickface is not someone that has a dick for a face, but rather is someone who is not a good person.-jinx- said:What the hell?
I don't understand why what he said makes him a bad person.Socreges said:My post suggested that the particular quoted post made him a dickface. A dickface is not someone that has a dick for a face, but rather is someone who is not a good person.
-jinx- said:Personally, I think that discussing what you make is tacky, period. But, if you happen to end up in a conversation about earnings with someone who clearly isn't in the same bracket, withholding comment is probably the polite thing to do.
-jinx- said:And yeah, I'm a little surprised at the incomes in this thread...but then again, they are probably consistent with younger people working part-time while in school.

iapetus said:Agreed. Does that make me a dickface too?
What exactly is polite about SAYING that you make more than everyone else and then SAYING that everyone makes "so little"? I have the upmost respect for anyone who chooses to not post in this thread because of these reasons, but to actually come out like Pheonix did defeats the entire fucking purpose, doesn't it?Phoenix said:Aw fuck you dude. Because I won't discuss how much I make and would be surprised by the fact that many people posting aren't making 20K makes me a dick face.
F-U-C-K You.

Not "everyone", sorry. Ignatz Mouse sure makes a fair amount! Rather, something to the effect of "I make such and such an amount of money that to post it would be insulting to this thread, so I'll just acknowledge the fact that I make as much as that". The posts that I replied to above defend someone who just steers clear of the thread altogether, but your post was just insulting, as was my point.Phoenix said:Did I say I made more than everyone? No. Did I claim surprise in that people made so little? Yes. So just shut the fuck up.
Socreges said:Not "everyone", sorry. Ignatz Mouse sure makes a fair amount! Regardless, the posts that I replied to above defend someone who just steers clear of the thread altogether, but your post was just insulting, as was my point.
I continued to explain myself more above in an edit, as if you don't know exactly what I mean. Please reply to that.Phoenix said:Learn reading comprehension before you start assuming that I am insulting anyone. There were certain people that posted above me that I assumed made more - genius.

Phoenix said:Since it wouldn't be the highest number I've seen posted already it wouldn't be "insulting" to the thread. If I wanted to insult anyone I would go about it a different way altogether. Like perhaps with a "lol".
I'm expecting 30K on my tax return this year.Agent Icebeezy said:I should hit close to 16K on tax return this year

DarienA said:Phoenix I just went back and read your first post.... it could be construed as insulting... as could a few of your responses... admit that much, clarify that the initial post wasn't meant to be insulting, apologize if necessary move the fuck on.

Enough that I won't discuss it. Didn't realize that some people here made so little.
DaCocoBrova said:That's not insulting. My response was going to be quite similar. I don't discuss my salary to anyone really, other than accountants and what not.
Phoenix said:It isn't and wasn't intended that way, but since some people felt insulted - better to apologize to them and move on.
Still surprised by the salaries I've been reading. Some of the posts I've read from some of these posters suggests they have a great understanding of various issues and deserve to be in a better paying (and managerial) position than their salary suggests.
Wellington said:It's 'cause the GAF crowd is still largely in college. I was making about $6k a year as an intern, right in-line with most people here.
What sucks is that I got over a third of my salary taxed. I am single and don't own any property, will I get anything good back?
ChumsGum said:72K from my job, another 8K in rental income, and another 53K in equity from my 2 properties (although you can't really count this as income until I sell or refi). I'm also in my late 20s which would make me about 10 yrs older than most GAffers. Word of advice for you guys, keep your credit clean and buy a home as soon as you can afford the mortgage.
Phoenix said:And if you ever have the opportunity to pick up rental property - DO IT. Don't put it off. Its like printing money.
bionic77 said:I made a little less then that last summer and I only got like 300 back so I wouldn't expect too much more.
You know, not to derail this topic, but how do you start out with that sort of thing? I have a fairly decent amount of money saved up, and my parents and brother suggested the same thing to me over Xmas.ChumsGum said:Exactly. This is the first year of my rental property and with every passing year, not only does my equity go up but I can also charge more for rent.

onion_pixy said:Agreed with Phoenix and Chums above. BUY A HOUSE ASAP. Wellington, thats the only way you will EVER see a good chunk of your tax money back. Well, that or having kids. Though, I'd imagine kids are more expensive then any tax credit they provide.
How much money did you lay out in the beginning, out of curiosity? For the record I'm totally debt free -- although I don't have much credit to my name as I don't even own a credit card.onion_pixy said:ETA Fennec, I plan on turning my current house into a rental property within five years. as it is now, what I could get for it in rent, would just cover the mortgage. Tho the mortgage is fixed and will never increase.
Sorry, just an avatar.ps do you really have one of those little foxes?!? OMG so fucking cuuuute!!!!! *squeals*
