How to use your PS4 controller as a PC controller

Getting an issue with DS4Windows and uPlay. DS4W is up first, turn on controller connects, start uplay, nothing. Used to get a little popup in the uplay window saying a controller is connected but now it doesn't even seem to recognize it. Not resolved when launching any game either. Tried a bunch of different options and checkboxes in DS4W but nothing helps.

Am thinking it's related to latest release (1.4.212), anyone have an older version? Thinking at most 1.4.21, so 1.4.201, 1.4.2, 1.4.161, 1.4.16 for instance. Or it could always be uplay being stupid.

Thanks.

Nvm I'm dumb, went back to original thread site and OP has all versions available. Will report back.

Just set this up again. Two pieces of advice: Home + Option will turn off the controller and this will not work with Dark Souls 1 & 2 (the main game I play on my PC with controller) without the option 'Hide DS4 Controller' in the settings page turned on. I also unplugged my wireless 360 dongle just to be safe. Everythings working perfectly now :)

At times, I get strange input delays on my setup. It comes and goes occasionally but I haven't been able to find a fix. I feel as if maybe its related to the gryo/touchpad stuff so does anyone know how to disable it in DS4Windows completely?

Or just know a fix in general?

DS4Windows is incredible. I can use it to gross the web easily using the touchpad, and then when I launch a game it automatically switches profiles.

Only thing is I can get it to work with rollercoaster tycoon 2. Not sure why.

When I press the left and right parts of the touchpad when playing, a mouse cursor appears. Is there any way I can hide this or change any setting that I may have incorrectly left on?

Interesting thing I noticed when using steam in house streaming on my Mac, which detects the DS4 easily, is that all games I tried that use the 360 controller work perfectly.

It's the "Slide" option at the bottom of the profile page. You can either uncheck that, or uncheck the other one called "Start with Slide On/Off." That's useful because you can toggle between touchpad and no touchpad by simply placing your finger on the touchpad and pressing the Guide/PS button.

i get lag as well. Its when something gets in between the BT dongle and the Pad itself.

For some reason, DS4Windows isn't working correctly when trying to play USF4 over bluetooth (also tried wired). It would detect a generic USB controller and a 360 controller, but when I go in-game, it only recognizes the generic controller. I've tried setting it to hide the DS4/generic controllers (it'll say only a 360 controller detected in the game controllers menu) and there wouldn't be any controller in the controller setup menu for USF4. Stumped.

It works for other games.

I tried out USF4 last night with DS4Windows and an ASUS Bluetooth 4.0 dongle and didn't have this issue, worked perfectly. I only have one profile set up though, I use the "default" profile for all games since I just play XInput games anyways, seems to cut down on issues. I always keep the "Hide" button checked as well. I'm also running a fresh install of windows if that matters

Trying to get this to work is driving me crazy.

I bought a Asus USB-BT400 3Mbps USB Bluetooth v4.0 Mini Dongle, installed the software etc. Trying to pair my ds4 but the controller light (and the actual controller) are turning off after a few seconds? It's not showing up in DS4Windows. Every time I turn the controller on I get a notification in my taskbar "A Bluetooth device is trying to connect" but when I click on it to give it permission, that's when my controller turns itself off.

That's the exact same Bluetooth dongle I'm using and I'm having no issues. I didn't install the ASUS software that came on the disc though, I just plugged the dongle in and let Windows install the driver. No need for the ASUS software. Maybe it's causing a compatibility issue?

I'm trying to play darksouls II and DS4 windows will not work with the game for some reason. Getting no response at all. Can control steam in big picture but in Dark Souls II nothing.

I used to play with my DS3 controller, but after seeing this thread i went out to get a DS4. Man, i love this controller.

Both Dark Souls games will act up when it recognizes a dinput controller. Double check that you have "Hide DS4" properly checked off in your DS4 program, and that you don't have anything else plugged in. You won't be able to control anything if it sees the "Wireless Controller" or anything else like that.

I did not have that checked. Thanks!

I'm curious, can we use the same Dualshock 4 controller that we use for both PS4 & PC gaming, or do I have to buy another DS4 (One for PS4, & the other for PC gaming)?

Of course, but then you'd have to resync the controller whenever you switch. Kinda annoying on PC.

Aside from having to sync it to the PC and PS4 when you want to switch, you can use the same one.

Anyone have a good solution for using the navigation controller and a mouse? Although the ds4 in one hand is pretty sweet, I'd enjoy more buttons on the left hand.

Anybody have an issue with the DS4, DS4Tool and Dynasty Warriors 8 Complete Edition?

Using the DS4 will cause my character to randomly hold block. It also seems like inputs are randomly dropped. Finally, when in a pre-battle camp, my character will randomly go from running to walking if I change the direction of the analog stick from 12'o'clock (going forward) to 11 or 1'o'clock (turning slightly left or right as I run forward).

My Logitech Rumblepad does not do this, nor does it seem like any of my other games have problems with the DS4 (tested Valkyria Chronicles and Skullgirls Encore).

If I go to the xinput test in DS4Tools, everything seems to be working fine. My physical DS4 buttons are all pristine and non-sticky as well.

Any idea what could be causing this?

If you are only using it wired on PC it is very easy. Just unplug it from PC and turn it on and it's synched to the ps4.

I'll try that when I get home later today. What does that option do, exactly?

By default DS4 is a Dinput controller but sometime there's a conflict when Xinput emulation is happening, causing weird issues. Checking "Hide DS4 controller" clears that up to ensure Xinput emulation is unimpeded.

Ah, cool. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find 'Hide DS4 controller' anywhere on DS4Tool. I'm clearly missing something!

EDIT: There's a "Use Exclusive Mode" box that is checked. I'm assuming that's the same thing. The problem with DW8 persists, however.

Oh, sorry I should have paid more attention. It looks like you're using a different branch that I'm not familiar with or one that is not supported anymore.

Try DS4Windows by Jays2Kings instead of DS4Tools.

Uninstalled DS4Tool, installed DS4Windows by Jays2Kings, same exact problem. Using my Logitech for DW8 isn't the end of the world because that's also a mighty fine controller, so this is only a minor inconvenience. Still, I want to know what is causing this issue, or even if I'm the only one experiencing it!

I'm using DS4Windows DSDCS Build (1.5.21.17793) with a wired USB DS4, and I'm getting a 4ms input latency. This is pretty annoying as I'm used to being able to hit frame-perfect inputs for some games.

Has anyone else encountered this, or know of any way to get the latency down?

EDIT: Actually, this seems to be related to Steam somehow. I think I fixed it by closing some other applications while Steam/my game is running.

Mine reports 4ms whenever the DS4 is plugged in, and 1.25-2ms when using it over Bluetooth. If I start the program using Bluetooth and then plug the controller in, it charges it and the input delay stays at around 1.25-2ms. Personally I don't notice a difference but I'm not really playing games where frame-perfect inputs are necessary.

Is it different to what you'd get from using a regular wired 360 controller?

Ok this shit is doing my head in.

I set it up, it recognises my DS4 as a Xbox 360 controller, I can test it in device manager and see it as a 360 controller. It eventually worked with Dragon Age Inquisition, upon later turning on my computer again it no longer works. It has the weirdly arranged DS4 configuration when I started up the game, (R1 = A and shit like that). It recognises my DS4 as a 360 controller but in DA:I it doesn't... I even set the 360 controller as the preferred.

Why isn't it working? I don't get it.

So does rumble start? Can I connect this via bluetooth, if so what BT adapter should I get?
Rumble works (not sure if I've played any game that support it though), bluetooth works. Can't help you with which adapter to use since I use the one integrated in my laptop.

No matter where I press on the touchpad it right clicks. How do I get it to left click?

With mine, you left click by just tapping the touchpad (not clicking it in, that's right click).

I have had to resort to using my ds4 wired, as where I sit, relative to my PC was too far away and the latency was making it impossible to play.

This certainly is strange and I still have the added latency via USB even without Steam. I've experimented with both DS4windows programs out there and they behave the same way.

It just stopped working after all this time. People are saying I need to uninstall the drivers, but I've done so and it is still being goofy. For the record, I'm using input mapper and DS4Tool.

Okay this is weird. When I'm playing MGSV GZ, the mouse cursor pointer appears, even though I have the Slide options unchecked.

I think this happens when I play Dark Souls too.

Is there any reason why this happens?

Are you sure that has anything to do with the controller/program and not the game? Btw, in Dark Souls you can hide the mouse cursor with DSFIX.

It looks like MGSV GZs most recent patch introduced a mouse cursor bug: http://steamcommunity.com/app/311340/discussions/0/611698195159547667/

I am using DS4Tool 1.2.2 and it works great.

You know you're going to have to join the future one of these days!

I'm not really sure :( But now that you mention it, perhaps it's the game?

Regarding DSFIX, I just change that setting in the .ini file, right?

EDIT: Thanks, Nabs. So that solved the problem in Dark Souls. :)

Oh I see. So do you recommend that I roll back to the original version without this patch?

EDIT: Ignore this. I'm done with GZ anyway.

I just picked up a Kinivo BTD-400 BT adapter and it's been pretty good so far. I'm using it on Windows 8.1 (YMMV with any other OS) with ds4windows and it seems to have really good range. I'm really happy with my ($14) pickup.
