How to use your PS4 controller as a PC controller

So when I try to run x360ce I get this. Help?

I was getting this same error. It started working after I installed all of the prerequisites from
http://ngemu.com/threads/what-is-x360ce-and-how-to-use-it.154965/

Is everyone able to charge this controller using any old micro usb plug and outlet? I'm not sure if my controller is defective or if its just really picky about what charges it like the PS3 controller. But it's basically unusable now because it's dead and whenever I try and play with it it connects for about 15 seconds then shuts off (plugged into a cell phone charger when playing)

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but whats the standard/default HID button mapping for the DualShock 4? For example:-
HID1 - Square
HID2 - Cross
HID3 - Circle
HID4 - Triangle
HID5 - L1
HID6 - R1
HID7/X Rotation - L2
HID8/Y Rotation - R2
HID9 - Share
HID10 - Options
HID11 - L3
HID12 - R3
HID13 - PS button
HID14 - Trackpad button
Z Axis/Z Rotation - Right analog stick

For reference the Xbox 360 controller is mapped like this:-
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/hh405052(v=vs.85).aspx

I'm curious so see how the button mappings differ.

There you go

Do we know if Sony will release drivers for this to work on PC without going through any trouble? Can't get mine to work with anything but Steam Big Picture.

Thank you! So my initial button examples were correct? (They were just a guess)

If so its a shame that the default HID layout for the Xbox 360's four face buttons (A, B, X, Y):-

Don't match the default HID layout for the PS4's four face buttons (square, cross, circle, triangle):-

I found the problem. When move the right thumb stick down, left or right it detects I am pressing L2 and moving the stick at the same time.

The DS4 seems pretty close to the L Rumblepad 2 configuration.

My L2 button makes a noticeable "click" when it returns to its default position after being pressed (R2 moves smoothly), is something like this happening to anyone else? I'd feel silly returning a controller for a system that isn't even out yet, but I'm concerned that it'll bug me during proper gameplay.

They're about even for me. I don't notice any click.

So far I got it to work wired with Big Picture mode in Steam but those pesky error messages pop up every time you run it and/or close it.

I can't get it to stay connected via BT though. It pairs then disconnects almost immediately. Anyone have any ideas on BT connectivity?

Honestly, Windows 8.1 is my only answer to that question.

Windows 7 64bit

Detects it, then gives me three pairing options

- Assign paring code

- Enter pairing code

- Pair without code

Tried third one, says it paired successfully but it didn't since it's not visible on the devices list on control panel. Top two options both return errors.

Lost, bummed. Anyone know what to do?

tried the controller on the Darkness 2 demo on steam using the OP's suggestion and it worked great! can't wait until they update the drivers and such so we don't have to jump through these hoops. one more week until I can use this on the PS4, can't wait!!

when the emulator prompts it, is it better to have it look for whatever file it's looking for on the internet or on my computer?

found out the code 0000 works for pairing
on win 8 at least

I think they initially said they were going to release a driver around the time the PS4 came out, but the console FAQ they posted recently says they have nothing to announce at this time.

It's a shame, they could make some bucks selling a profitable item to a large audience(PC gamers). I hope they have the sense to support it properly.

I thought they said it would have basic PC support, which it currently does.

Besides, if someone managed to get the DS3 to work and be seen as a 360 controller with no basic PC support, the same thing will happen with the DS4.

Tried my DS4 with PCSX2 using Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness

Lament works perfectly with the controller, but with Curse Hector refuses to run even when I've got the sticks jammed up full tilt, he only walks. Grrrr

And I think my bluetooth isn't as compatible as I thought it was, since sometimes the BT connection will stay on for hours, and other times it dies after 3 minutes. Sony really needs to release PC drivers

I did everything the OP mentioned to use a PS4 controller on BF3 PC (Windows 8.1), but all of the buttons are incorrect and the sticks do not behave like they did using the PS3 controller.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How does this feel in terms of size compared to the Wii U Pro controller? I started using that for my PC games instead of the 360 pad, and now the 360 pad feels too small. Unfortunately the lack of analog triggers on the Wii U pad means I can't use it exclusively, so I'm considering getting one of these.

You need to use x360ce for most modern PC games as they use the 360 pad(Xinput) standard. For directinput games, you will have to map the buttons yourself. The problem with this pad so far is that L2/R2 are mapped as buttons and X and Y rotation(causes camera to spin).

try messing with this setting

i had that issue with Persona 4 using a 360 controller. No issues with the DS4 in that game but might be worth a try though. Also might want to try using toshiba's bluetooth stack if you're using the default windows stack, that one works a lot better for me. My adapter wasn't officially supported but it still works with the toshiba stack and it's way more convenient. Might require a little bit of .ini editing though if your dongle isnt supported

It's not working for me on Tomb Raider - all sorts of issues: no right stick, R3/L3 for some reason are Start/Select, Dpad Up is Dpad Left, Triangle is X, etc.

Tomb Raider is a Big Picture Mode supported game. Just go into BPM>Settings>Controller

and configure the controls easily, then bam, it works perfectly for all supported controller games.

Also, I have the touchpad button as to go into BMP. It's really nice. :)

Has anybody found a workaround for the Bluetooth problem on win 7? All my searches turned up nothing

When adding the device using your Bluetooth pop-up, I found that right-clicking the item and selecting Properties > "Device Driver (Keyboard, Mice, etc.)" seemed to improve the connection success significantly, though your mileage may vary.

I love using it. I'm not 100% sure if it's going to replace the 360 controller due its somewhat spotty connection - sometimes it'll stay on for the whole hour, other times it will blink out after the two hour mark - but for what it is, it's glorious.

Is anyone else using the Xinput wrapper? It's worked for every single game I have tried. Had to delete a mess of x360ce files because I don't need them anymore.

I'm about to give it a shot.

Edit: Hm, Sleeping Dogs is picking up the generic inputs making it unplayable. Sonic Racing Transformed and Dishonored are fine though. I guess some games that support Dinput might cause problems.
