How's Alabama this time of year?

I'm going to a family reunion in the middle of June.

I don't know how my sister talked me into it. I'm not really a sociable guy. And the word "Alabama" is bringing up some nasty images in my very black cityboy brain.

So what's there to do in Mobil for four days? The farthest south I've ever been is Cedar Point and a hotel in Lousville. I imagine this is what most of the US feels like when they have to come to The D.

Alabama isn't nearly as bad as most people make it out to be. I've lived in Huntsville for roughly ~15 years now, and other than the bad drivers(not really isolated to Alabama though) it's pretty nice. Weather's almost always nice, people are almost always nice. There's not too much to do attraction-wise, but it's not a bad place to settle down and raise a family.
The only people that really rag on it are ignorant fools that have never even visited.

Hot and Humid. Mobil is nice, since it's right on the Gulf, and I like some of the Northern area's of the state, Appalachians and large forest and such.

It's been dry lately...

Watch out for highway exits/entries. They're fucking ass backwards. People enter before people exit so there's this rush to merge from both parties and during rush hour it gets nasty. When I was there this Spring co-oping, I saw two wrecks because of that poor road design.

Huntsville isn't as bad politically as Alabama is made out to be. There are a few crazies, but generally Huntsville is pretty educated. They've got huge amount of research businesses.

Edit: for some reason I got the idea that you were going to hunstville...nevermind. Yes, there are a few lunatics out in AL. I remember a local political campaign. What was the major issue? Posting ten commandments over public property. Pathetic.

I'm trying to figure out how you can actually build such an on/off ramp *scratches head* Is there some sort of designated lane that runs from ramp to ramp and so the people that want the next exit merge into that lane before all the people who are trying to get onto the highway merge onto the highway?

Mobile smells bad, but otherwise seems like a fine place. I would tell you about all the great places to go along the Redneck Riviera, but Ivan destroyed them all. :( Just eat some shrimp and amberjack and you'll have a great time.

The people on the left loop are trying to get onto 565 (the dark horizontal road). At the same time, there are people exiting 565 trying to get onto the right loop.

Now imagine tight traffic at about 45mph. Wrecks are frequent.

Damn, lot of GAFers here in Huntsville, I go school here (A&M). It's hot down here in the summer, real hot (and I'm from bermuda, so from me, that's saying something). Seeing as you a brother I got one word for you man, ASS. Women here have a lot of it, and they're pretty "friendly" as well. I couldn't tell you what it's like down in Mobil, but I'm sure you can find yourself something to poke around with while you're there. Your cousins will probably know where any hotspots are as far as clubbing and whatnot. It's a shame your family couldn't be from Atlanta though, as that's just an all around better time, but I'm sure you'll make the most of it.

Oooh, Huntsville people... There's a good chance I'm gonna be in Huntsville next month for training. I'd have to hit you guys up to find out good places to eat/see or go out. Especially if the women are hot :lol I hear "Dreamland" serves up some excellent BBQ, based on what some of my friends who went there in the past said.

We need to invent automated merging. Say when you get near a merging point your car goes into auto pilot and the computers all communicate and everyone merges and then when you are clear its back to normal.

Another person here that lives in Huntsville. Been here about 15 years. Been to Mobile once. I don't know much about the city. Yes, and I do agree, coming from the North, people cannot drive here (people do not know what a turning signal is).

I went to Greenbrier which is supposedly the best BBQ in the area. I thought it was too greasy...guess it's not my sort of food.

As for the women, I noticed the better looking ones shop at places like Target...I'm a cheap ass tho so I usually went to walmart.
