How's eXeem?

I used to be able to use the program, now i get nothing from it. NOTHING AT ALL. God why in the world was this the choice for them? I cant find shit anymore since nova be gone.

It is as good as torrents. But there is very little on it ATM. It is definately something that you want to look at in the future.

Maybe like a year, honestly eXeem hasn't gone anywhere since it was released. Well, I'm sure the growth will be exponential. But for eXeem to work, don't people need to carry around .torrent files? I'm not exactly sure how to share over it, or how it works even. All's I know is it's a decentralised network so there's no sole tracker per torrent, right..?

No, atleast in the new version(0.22) because I havent tried in the old version. You just go to open -> publish file, enter in all the details(like whatcategory), browse for the file you want to share and click publish. And bam, you are seeding a file.

It's a good idea, but I'm pretty convinced that it won't be very good in practice until all the web-based torrent sites either collapse or start integrating it using the "exeem://" tags and extensions. As it is now, most people are sticking to their regular torrent sites, and nothing is going to steer them away.

After that point, who knows what will happen? So far I haven't been very impressed with the search capabilities of P2P programs. Most of the time it's totally hit or miss. Even if someone on the network has the file you are looking for, it might not come up in the search results. If this continues with Exeem then I will be pretty disappointed with the whole project.

Err is this sorta discussion allowed?

If it's about how to pirate videogames, music or movies, no. But if it's about how to pirate unlicensed Japanese anime (cough Naruto cough) or anime music or game music, then it's ok, I think.

Listen you scurvy sea dogs, yer piracy talks be testing the waters of the forum.

At the moment, all you pirates should be happy with yer remaining torrent sites so you can continue yer plundering of the high seas.

Who said anything about piracy? P2P proggies are perfectly capable of sharing legal material as well. Maybe he just needs to download a copy of some shareware or needs to find a copy of RegClean or Schedule+ 7.5. I know I'd love to find a copy of Schedule+, since MS seems to have removed it from their site. It was free, and it was awesome. No wonder it got deleted. :lol PEACE.

Thanks. Program runs hella slow though.

Did you just get it? I can't confirm this yet myself but, when I added my Songs folder to be shared, my sharing count was slowly increasing one file after another. Even after like 30 minutes, it only got up to 1300, though that could be my PC. Anyway I think that's why it goes so slow, because Limewire is scanning through all your music to get the ID3 tags correct or whatever the hell it does. Maybe once your shared files are all in order with the program it'll run like normal.

I used a fresh folder with nothing in it, so I'm not sharing anything. So don't think that's causing the slowness. Seems to really chug when doing a search especially though.
