Human-sized Reptiles as playable characters

Isn't there a race of reptiles as a choice for your PC in Oblivion?

Argonians.

Amphibians brah.

Where did the leather harnesses on lizardmen trope start? Got at least four examples in this thread.

Anything I am missing? I purposely omitted the game Snake because all it does is eat food and grow. Also I omitted Battletoads because they are amphibians and they didn't interact with humans (unless you count Battletoads & Double Dragon).

It's of little consequence but The Dark Queen in Battletoads is human (a hot, alien human) and I now realize I'm a huge nerd for even bothering to point this out.

I don't play any RPGs so color me ignorant of all the reptiles in all those games.

One my favorite parts of the Dreamcast Soulcalibur was unlocking the ability to modify the opening sequence with your choice of characters. The part where Sophitia gets up and turns around in the flower garden is awesome when performed by Lizard Man. Namco took the time to animate his tail properly as he turns around all girly. His kata is boss too.

Didn't realize the amount of amphibians. Anything special about the amphibian race in games?

In Final Fantasy XI there are these really creepy lizard demons called Mamool Ja - here's a video of some of them. (Warning:This video contains loud music playing over the game audio, please adjust your speaker volume accordingly.) FFXI: Mamool Ja.

XIV has Amalj'aa

Regardless, reptile characters/monsters are almost always great to use/fight against.

TMNT could breakdance and duck blades using their shells.

Like a lot of things in gaming, it came from (or was popularized) by D&D, which had Lizard men. And that took it from Jim Morrison (at least the Lizard King variant was...)

The Lizardmen have been around since the first edition of Warhammer in 1983.
Not really, They appeared lately, not so much time but I had the first edition of the Warhammer Fantasy box with Orcs and Empire, and when they decided to create this race (and some others), they changed it to a box Lizardmen versus bretonnia (I miss the old times with no many undead and chaos types XD).
